Is this correct?

From what I have been reading, Google Places should be handled the follow way.

1. Nail the client to rank in the 7 box.
2. Build your citations that would be needed to take the 1st spot. Example the business in the 1st spot has 30 citation, so you build 40-50.
3. You claim the listing and optimize it with details, pics, video, and coupons.
4. Wait to get re-indexed hopefully in the 1st spot.
5. Have businesses clients go to the Places listing and rate and review.

Please correct me if I'm wrong or if I have it backwards. Also if I'm missing something important. I have just started offering G-Places as a service and just picked up 3, so I need to make sure I'm getting it right. Thanks in advance.

  • Hi SC

You will in most cases also need to do some decent SEO and backlinking to the main website since the changes that Google did in late October.

    Hope that helps

  • Yes I am doing sites for all 3. I will does the sites with seo first. My main question is, do I have to do the citations before claiming the listing? Thanks

    • Strongly recommended - my experience is that it is more effective to have citations prior to verifying a listing.
