Components of a sales letter

Hey guys, so I'm in the process of writing a sales letter that will be personalized and distributed towards 100 business in 2-3 niches.

So far, my sales letter consists of 4 important factors: Education, Value-giving, Rapport/Trust, and a Call to action.

EDUCATION: how am I going to educate these business owners on the importance of internet marketing?

- statistics (over 70% of customers do research on your business before they purchase, etc. etc.)
- make it specific to their industry

VALUE-GIVING: how can I provide them with useful information in the sales letter that will provide them with insight and "thankfulness" towards me?

- include a brief SEO report on their current website
- tell them where it stands in relation to their competitors
- how many people in my city look for businesses in their industry online

RAPPORT/TRUST: how can I gain their trust and gain rapport through this sales letter?

- Trust: I saw a really cool idea on this forum about establishing yourself as an author..cool idea, and apparently very cheap to do so.
- This is where I'm lacking in ideas.. Any1 wanna chip in on this?

CALL TO ACTION: If I've piqued these business owners' interest throughout the sales letter at all. I must have a CLEAR call to action. Some ways I thought of:

- Having my phone number in dark red, in big bold letters at the bottom of the sales letter.
- Link to my company website, company website will have a sign-up form for a FREE CONSULTATION.
- that's all I can think of for now.. please feel free to add any more ideas.

Okay, so those are the factors I'm using now for my sales letter. Hope you guys can give me some insight as this is the first time I'm attempting direct mail. Thanks

Please use valid statistical figures from reputable sources. Cite them as well. I've heard of anything from 70-95% of people searching for businesses going online.

When business owners hear values that are all over the place - it starts sounding like a big scam.

I know it's increasing every year, so cite recent statistics and make them verifiable.

Also demonstrate your credibility more than likely via your website by listing short case studies of how you helped similar clients address/capitalize on similar challenges/opportunities. You could also include testimonials from satisfied clients.
