Why Some People Almost Always Make Money With Offline Marketing

No matter which way you look at it, "Offline Marketing" i.e. business development and marketing consulting, is a highly profitable business to be in ... provided you do the right things at the start.

There's nothing abstract, fluffy or theoretical about this. You can take the following recommendations and plug them into your offline business as soon as you finish reading them.

This is part of what I include in marketing audits for local business service professionals (my area of offline focus).

This, along with 6 other complimentary strategies form a 'positioning' consulting product that I offer for a 1 hour, one time fee of $497. The days of leading with 'free no-obligation meetings' are over, and if you're still heavily relying on that approach you need to reconsider why?

Who says everything has to be free?

How come some businesses will gladly pay $500 for a no-obligation marketing audit? It's based on the strategy you have in your offline business. If you promote 'free' then like the internet marketing world, you'll attract local business owners who are freebie-seekers.

You can do the same too, but first, get your ship in shape.

How 'they' do it
and how you can do it too

So, why do some people almost always make money whether they decide to enter into a new niche, whether they decide to launch new services or even take the 'fad of the moment' and pitch to the same type of people you can't seem to get to buy from you?

There's a reason, and it's called having the "right things" in place to support you. These are the a proverbial 'must haves' and here's what I mean.

What are the "right things?"

Depending on what you want to achieve and where you are in your business e.g. are you just starting out? are you trying to provide a new program or product to an existing local business client? This will determine the actual strategy that applies to you.

In this post, you'll discover the most important strategy you can use to get your stuff together and guarantee your success 100% if you're starting out or if you've not been able to get results from your efforts and you've been trying for more than 90 days.

Shift happens in any type of business, but all you're going to need to do is modify your approach when it does.

So you're 'going in' ... let's do it!

The 1st Step - Think Strategically

When planning a vacation (an analogy used a lot by many teachers because the average person can relate to it) you wouldn't start out "blind."

You'd plan appropriately wouldn't you?

From working with hundreds of (Offline) Marketing consultants and people who work with local business owners but don't consider themselves to be 'Offliners' I know that this is an area that too many people either ignore totally or just rush through so they can 'see the money!'

Bad move

Thinking strategically involves 5 steps that you cannot afford to avoid and here they are:

  1. Your target local business market - Can you clearly describe your market? You should do this before you send out one of the tens of WSO PLR products you bought
    .
  2. Missing pieces - Rather than secure a 'no brainer' solution because it's described as being 'hot' right now (think Google Places for instance) confirm the market need and then, if Google Places is the solution, then go for it

Make sure that your focus is squarely on the product of your service - the value you create, and not the commodity. The commodity is the service that you're providing.

This is an area where Offline Marketers struggle to make a clear distinction. It's time to kiss that type of thinking goodbye!
    ..
  3. Outreach - You don't need me to tell you that there are hundreds of ways to reach local business prospects, but I will tell you that YOU need to be clear about how YOU will deliver YOUR message to your specific local business target group.

I use a very specific approach to reach out to health professionals and even within that, a different approach to connect with local Chiropractors as opposed to Dentists
    .
  4. Plan for exactly how you're going to make money - I love helping local businesses but I'm not registered as a not-for-profit. So making money is high on my list

    I don't think you're an NFP either

In my coaching classes, often talk about the importance of having a 'business model that works for you' because if you don't have one, you're NOT going to be able to have a business (even a weak one)
    .
  5. Interactive Marketing Plan - Just like there are lots of ways to reach the most qualified local business owners, there are so many different activities you could potentially engage in marketing your offline services, but you've got to identify the ones that best fit your your market and your business model

It's called "interactive" because it should be. It's your $100,000 a year business success navigation system and you should have one right now
This is simply a quick overview of just one of the 7 steps you need to take if you're just starting out or if you feel like you've been spinning your wheels or if you feel 'stuck' with Offline Marketing consulting.

It's just one step but it's THE most important one. Get this wrong and you won't have a business...you'll have a time-consuming hobby.

In the future I may write more on this topic because getting started is one of the major road-blocks I experienced when I started. Even when I did seem to be moving ahead, without a solid business model, there's no way I would have been able to check if it was in the right direction.

Remember, busy activity, reading, planning, reading updates on what you already know, planning some more, downloading stuff...all these are not revenue generating activities. They don't get you results.

Feel free to ask any question about this and when I do pop into the forum I'll be happy to help where I can based on what works for me and results others I've worked with have achieved.

To your success

Good points. Focusing on the VALUE provided is always critical. And I'll use the last line in dealing with some clients!

Great insights! Thanks for sharing them with us.

Indeed, having the right business model and systems in place is key. Browsing, downloading information, buying more courses, and reading free information is not building any revenue stream. We have to get out there and make it happen!

Very nice helpful post Bayo. The last bolded paragraph alone was worth the read...

"Remember, busy activity, reading, planning, reading updates on what you already know, planning some more, downloading stuff...all these are not revenue generating activities. They don't get you results."

Whether your doing offline or online marketing that statement is gold. People only need to worry about doing "revenue generating activities".
