Opportunity is Truly All Around Us, Here's Proof

Getting clients in your offline consulting biz is easiest when you know what clients need. A good friend of mine in the offline consulting business called me with great news today. He had scored himself 3 new clients in a matter of hours...not days, hours!
What he do?
Something (some sort of new zoning or construction) happening within his city was going on that affected a lot of businesses in a particular plaza, which were mostly small independently own businesses, and my friend went over to the plaza to strike up some conversation with the owners and managers.
Like he already predicted people were outraged and angry. While "venting" they began to admit to my friend there other frustrations within the business.
One owner just came out and said "I can't believe the city is doing this [explicit]! First I can't get my client log in on the [explicit] website to work, now I won't even be able to see half my clients if the city proceed with these silly plans of theirs."
Bingo!
My friend was just given a problem that he could indeed solve. After listing to the man with the foul mouth vent, he calmly agreed and told him that he couldn't do much about the city, but he could ensure his current clients had access to his site. He even asked if he could take a look right then and there.
What happened?
The owner showed him the web issue and my friend assured him he could get the issue solved within a matter of hours. Walked out with not only a new client and deal/agreement, but a check! An actually check, just for spending 45 minutes listening to a guy vent.
So what point am I trying to make?
Listen...always be on the look-out for problems you can solve. If there is anything in your community effecting businesses keep your ears and eyes open. You never know what will be said, but if you listen hard enough, I'm sure you'll find an invite to be of help, just like my buddy did.
