Too few searches to make a business worth the effort?

I am meeting with a business owner of a small town Furniture showroom and I'm searching Googles keyword tool to see what competition and search volume might be there and there is None.!?!

When I search a term myself I get around 47,700 broad and 898 exact.

The initial search term is 'Port Alberni Furniture". Which doesn't even show up on Googles Tool.
I know that keyword tools are less helpful for a local search but I'm surprised at the difference between the two.

Any input from the people who have been at offline for a while.

I have an appointment mid week and I wanted to have a "Plan" in the works for them.

Thanks.

    Hi Brad

As you said the Google keyword tool is not the most reliable source of information so I wouldn't worry too much about no search volume. What you might consider is looking at what type of furniture they sell i.e modern, antique etc and try those key phrases.

I would concentrate more on the keywords without the location qualifier. The way GPlaces is working, for me anyway, is that it is taking my IP address and then giving me a map in the sidebar, plus 7 Places results after the first 3 organic results.
OK, I am in London and G thinks I am 7/8 miles from where I actually am (a long way here!) but if I click the place map I can see all map results in my area for the keyword.

If I were you I would check out that this works in your area for "furniture" and work out a plan from there.

I'd look at the option of setting up an autoresponder to market to their existing customer base.
