Basic Google Places Question...

by Avery Berman 5 replies
Why hello my fellow warriors! I have a very quick Google places question.

You obviously create a separate email to sign up to Places with for each client you have, but who hosts this email? Do you just create a new gmail for each client?

That's it! Thanks!

I just create a new Gmail account for each individual client.

When I am providing a GP service for a client, I create and control the listing with my own gmail account. This way I can access it easily and quickly whenever I want.

When I create the Citations for each GP listing, I create a unique gmail account to use with all of the Citation sites and then give access to this to the client.

    This way, 2 things happen:

    1. They see from all the Citation site emails (confirmation and otherwise) the amount of work which went into creating the Citations (a BIG upsell)

    and

    2. Giving them access to the sites allows them to go in and further customize the GP listings on the highest traffic sites.

(I also provide this service to my clients, but at even greater up$ell. )

    Hope that helps.

    Rob

Now my GP noob colors will show... what are you referring to with citation for each GP listing?

        Hi Avery,

No worries, we were ALL noobs at one time

Citations are kind of like backlinks for Google Places Listings, but without anchor text and a clickable link.

When you create a Business Listing on a Business Directory, like Yelp or YP.com AND that information (Business Name, address, phone number and url) matches EXACTLY with the information on your Google Places Listing, then, when that Business Listing is found by Google, you receive some Google love in the form of a citation.

If your GP listing is optimized well and has a bunch of Citations all across the internet, then Google rewards your "legitimacy" with a higher ranking in the Places Search.

Oh, and some reviews are always helpful too

        Hope that helps.

        Rob

That's interesting Rob. I just forward the confirmation emails to my client and give them the log in information. So far i haven't had a problem with that approach but it is important to show the work that goes into making those citations.
