Hosting Clients websites questions

Hi Warriors, I have some questions here. Assuming I have some clients that requested website designs for their companies, I would be charging them the set up fees and also monthly recurring hosting fees right?.

Now my question is, is it ok to host all these websites on my own hosting account and then charged each one of them monthly fees say $30 as if each one of these websites have their individual hosting accounts? Is it ok to do this or should I just really set up separate individual hosting account for my clients and then charge them accordingly? i hope you guys get what i am saying. thanks

  • Have you considered getting a reseller account and providing each client with their own cpanel?

    • I think that would be feasible. But, you should inform clients about the changes.

    • Yeah you should get a reseller hosting account - hostgator is great for that and yes, we do client sites for them and host most of them as well - if they do not have hosting in mind, we will let them know we do hosting and also recommend other hosting - most of the time they go with us.

Our hosting clients now pay for our monthly reseller account with a bit of profit over for us but we do not charge $30 per month but that depends on the site they are getting - normally it would be $5 to $10 per month - the price you charge for hosting is up to you though.

  • You can get into trouble if you do that (Not just getting your account disabled but legal trouble as well), trust me. I ran a hosting company for a good two years, shut down many, many accounts that shared access with other people.

To host someone's website yourself you need a reseller package or dedicated server. You can charge as much as you want, but for terms of offline clients I'd highly recommend $17.00 a month. It's a "sweet spot" so to speak with offline clients.
