I heard an idea the other day which makes a lot of sense to me.

When a client sends out a text coupon, etc to their list, they could offer to put an optin at the bottom of the message for another non-competing business in the area to build their list.

This could be done on a reciprocal basis or for a fee. The other business could get a fresh influx of leads. Your client could either use the fee to offset the cost of your services or to build his list faster.

You could build your client base by suggesting this to your client, maybe even getting your client to approach the other business, then going to the other business and offering to set up an SMS program for them.

Of course, this would be limited by the characters allowed on a text message, but with efficient use of words it could be done.

Another thing they could do is could offer to put an opt-in or coupon for the other business on the confirmation they send to new signups. This would be more like a drip-feed because there is no large blast, but it still might work. I guess you would have to test it.

Hope this helps
