Offliners! 1st big deal. $3000 upfront & $1500 per month

Offliners keep working at it. Even if it is in your spare time. I have been working 60 + hours per week (in my j.o.b.) and still managed to market my business and pick up some clients.

Just last week I collected a check for $3000 (actually PayPal payment) and secured an agreement to manage their SEO and PPC for $1500 per month. They have budgeted to spend around $6-$7k in PPC per month plus the costs to hire me.

The other deal was for a website and the client agreed to $950.00. Simple wordpress site and an ecommerce plugin module. He already sent a PayPal payment for half and will pay the rest when complete.

I also have some other deals working.

Just thought some of you might want to here some good news. It has been tough but I was determined not to give up.

Good for you! Congrats! Now I want to know what method you are currently using to recruit clients? I have the problem of not enough time during the day to do it. I would love to pick your brain about what method you are using and how you conducted the consultation that resulted in this fabulous opportunity, if you please......

Same boat here. Doing this part time. Will be for a while as I really love my job.

In any case, picked up a client a few weeks ago (well, I picked up a few in the last few weeks) and he referred to me a home builder / contractor. Sent the proposal for $3250 setup (website, few mini sites, youtube videos, google place optimization) and on-going of $650 month of which $200-$250 will be spent outsourcing backlinks, video creation, article creation, etc and he said OK today. Going next week to get the materials for the website and picking up a check.

Referrals man... They are awesome. One thing I ALWAYS do is overdeliver. Every single time.

For the question above about getting clients. I used a warrior method here (by Jayo - offlinetraining.com) of putting together a website design, sending an email saying "I redid your site, blah, blah". Almost everyone of those emails gets a response and a check / paypal payment.

Works both locally and non-local. I sent the email to a local guy and did his site. He's the one who referred me to the builder. I sent another email to a guy in Dallas (I'm in Florida) and he paid me over paypal and he will be a monthly optimization client soon.

It takes time but I have a few extra grand in my bank account because of it... I could EASILY see this being a 15k / month business in the near future. Easily...

I have been offline marketing since 2008. Just bid a $5,000.00 per month with $2,500.00 Set up fee. We are going to run their Facebook/Twitter/Youtube/Google Places, Google and Facebook PPC. There is BIG money in offline marketing, make sure you brand yourself as a leader and do for yourself, what you promise to do for your clients.

    Congratulations Zack,

Hearing about success like yours is truly inspiring.

Juggling the day job and the family with IM can be quite challenging
    and hair pulling too.

Like you, I will persist until I can leave my great paying day job for true financial freedom.

    Stay Sunny,

    Michelle

Thanks for the congrats. I set up up a website quite some time back (www.mycitySEOcompanydotcom) and I optimized it for my city + SEO. You can see it in my signature. It didn't take too long to get to the first page and start getting calls. I want to redo the site because I do not get a good conversion but I do get some calls. The client I just closed for $3k upfront and $1500 per month found my website and called me. We had 3 meetings. In the first meeting I asked a lot of questions. One of the most important questions I asked was what they had budgeted for marketing and how much of that they wanted to use for online. The second meeting was basically laying out an outline of what I could do to help them but did not discuss money yet. The third meeting was my proposal and more details. We shook hands, signed the agreement and they sent the Paypal payment 2 days later for $3k. I'm sure some deals can be closed the in the 1st meeting but this one took a bit longer.

The other deal was all over the phone and the guy is in Atlanta. Although he agreed to the $950 to build his site, I couldn't seem to get him to send over the PayPal payment. I finally started his site on my on domain and sent the link and asked if he wanted me to upload the site to his domain. He liked the site and said yes. Payment for half came over the next day and I should hopefully collect the rest this coming week when he is satisfied with the completed site.

a nice cost cutting idea here would be instead of buying a separate domain to show the client before you email them install wordpress on a subdomain or yoursite.com /buildersite then direct them to this url in the email just to show off the design to them and discuss what services you can help them with, then when you have got the client you just copy over the wordpress edited files only and do a fresh install on their existing domain name, be sure to outline why your design and services will actually bring them more business as oppose to their existing design.

    Congrats on your success

That's exactly what I do. I think I have 20 subdomains on that domain.
