Places Citation Question

I am currently setting up places listing and adding citations for a local business. The business is located in a suburb of a larger city. I have been trying to use the large city name as the location of the business but some citation services will not accept the city name because of the zip code. The large city has annexed all the surrounding suburbs over the years. All the searches for the service are used using the large city name.

Only 2 citations I have come across won't accept the zip and city. Local.com and superpages. Super pages tried to upsell to advertise in the large city >.<

Should I just continue to create citations using the larger city or go back and start over using the suburb? Figured I would ask this question now before I got too far along.

Thanks

If the actual suburb they are in has been annexed by the city, I wouldn't waste the time focusing upon the suburb. Once the bigger city takes over control of the area, there is another "race" for rankings related to the new location name.

Also, just because the online listing services do no have their zip code mapping updated to properly reflect the annexations does not make them correct. Contact those sites that do not allow the correct data input, and advise them of the changes the annexation(s) of the suburbs has had, such as the group of zip codes affected, and what their new correct city/town name is.

Thanks for the reply. The major city has pretty much annexed the whole county. I will just continue to create citations with the major city listed as city wherever applicable and see about contacting the citation sources to update their mapping...

      Thanks again
