Also check out your states business registry. If you can't find the info between these two resources it will be pretty hard to find.

Thanks for that one mrmatt. Oddly enough, the Find a Business one is ran by none other than InfoUSA. I completely missed the Free Look Up Tools section

You can also go to your local secretary of states office website and do some research...

The business filing name will have the owners name and contact info....

If they have a web site, you can sometimes get the information by using WHOIS
(whois.net and similar sites) to find out who registered the domain name.

Also if they are a corporation, there will at least be some information with the state corporation listings (though if they incorporated in Las Vegas, you aren't likely to get much)

One of the best sources I've found is the state's government site. Usually there's a business section that lets you search through all the businesses that do business in the state. Works pretty good and you know it's accurate and up to date.

I have run into difficulty finding business owner's names through our state department's website. A lot of business owners file their incorporation paperwork through an attorney and/or a resident agent, and that is the name that appears on all the paperwork filed with the state. Most of the time, the business owner's name is nowhere to be found in those files.

I am having better luck with manta.com

Yup, I would say the majority now just use a registered agent or attorney so you won't find their name without actually calling the biz and trying to find out. It's actually kinda funny as in some states like FL it is so easy and quick to fill out the paper work, takes like 5 min. But there are people who charge hundreds to new biz owners that didn't realize how easy it is. I remember showing somebody how easy it was, that he just paid a few hundred to an "attorney" to do.. he was pissed LOL, said the attorney made it out to be a complex thing to do.

  Another thing I do is I go to Google and type this in:
  
  site:linkedin.com "the business name"
  
  This will give you the people that work for the company
  and have a profile on Linkedin.com.

Hey Mobilemarketingkings - for bulk business owner names, e-mails, and addresses what I've found works best is smaller niches.

For example, a niche like food trucks have an absolute need for a mobile presence and we're talking the whole package - mobile website, native app, SMS campaign, etc...

And generally, there are large groups of food truck associations in major cities that have direct links to the owners contact information. There isn't a long line of gate keepers that you need to sift through and the response rate is much higher.

It's just one example, there's several other niche goldmine especially for mobile marketers. Hope it helps. =)

Places scout will gather that data for you, phone, name, email etc.. it has worked much better for me than traditional methods but the best source for me other than that is BBB it will tell you who filed, who is the manager basically decision maker so your not just calling to speak to the owner (sometimes the owner is never at a place of business he has appointed management) so that's been the most valuable sources for me hopefully this helps you guys.

I personally suggest using Dun and Bradstreet's lookup service, Whitepages.com, and Manta, plus another service (there are several competing services --combined which is most important-- that already provide this service) that I regularly use to call the business owner at home and even speak with their spouse.

Bypass the gatekeepers altogether!

The biggest key is whether one sounds like a mutually beneficial relationship is desired or a quick sale.

I've found a very fluid way to make competitors teammates and really need help expanding in return please. There is far more than enough to share resources, so I welcome any contact with any and everyone.
