I was playing around with the idea of building a lead gen site to "rent" out to a service type biz. My original idea was to get it ranked then charge $xxx per month to someone. I then thought of selling the leads if no takers. How do you do that? If I have a "plumber your city" type site how do I know they did the job? I can't imagine they pay up front for a lead without knowing if they got the job.
Just wondering ya know

No they wont because they are unlikely to know what their cost per lead is anyway.

It would be an admin nightmare for youto be phoning him and the customer to see what really happened and what the price was.

Then there would be the payment to you.

If he unblocks a sink for £40 he isn't going to give any of that to you.

If it is to plumb in a new bathroom for £3k that is very different but then you may as well pass the leads on to a Bathstore who do know their cost per lead irrespective of whether it sold or not.(Hence cost per lead not cost per sale)

So go the route of the latter if you must.

PS:Maybe your meaning of plumber was that high end type of thing anyway.

Oh yeah? Tell that to Service Magic. Not only do they charge per the lead, but they also sell them off between 3 contractors. It's the plumber's job to sell his service to the customer.

Any contractor that expects YOU to find them the customer AND convert them first is out of their mind! Stay far away from dealing with clients like that, because they will 9 out of 10 times screw you over.
