I am currently running off of "Fresh Domains" and am about to create an LLC in the coming days/weeks. I own Fresh Domains | Domaining, Marketing, Monetizing but am looking to redesign my website because the theme is faulty as well as get a .com domain name. The thing is that FreshDomains.com is taken and will likely cost $1000+ which I can not afford right now.

Any ideas? Should I stick with FreshDomains? Should I go with a 4-8 letter brandable that I can get through NamePros.com or something for $25-$100 or find an unregged pronouncable brandable?

What do you think?

How do you find a business name?

Oh gosh, I was going through this exact process a few weeks ago. Try looking for alternatives, catchy, short, maybe web 2.0 like. put a list of words together that you like on one page and see if you can put two together, making tons of combinations to see what stands out to you. Then you can see if its available. For me, nothing that I liked my mom liked OR was available. I just ended up going with SoDevious Media (because that's what I'm known online as), I will register as an LLC in the coming days.

I think it depends on what you are doing. If it's a local biz then try for localenamebusiness.com (tacomaplumber.com) for instance. I like the whole exact match domain process and would try to get a business name that matches the search you are targeting. I don't go in much for the whole fancy, catchy name thing for an Internet only business. It's all about getting found and converting the visitor so do everything you can to stack the deck in your favor.

Thats exactly what I'm doing now since I'm going local for now. Unfortunately my local area is small business wise.

So I expanded my domain name to a state level which still gives me a wee bit of credibility when calling on local cities.

In my case the state level works well. statebusinessname.com

I could have gone for bigcitynamenearme.com but it didn't feel right.

Besides that big city is Albuquerque and no one can spell it...

And truly there is nothing to stop me from buying the same name with the next state if I expanded that far.

Feel free to criticize that because I was wondering what the drawback is.

I would suggest you go with a marketing name for your LLC unless you are sure you will be staying in the domains arena. Your business model may change and then you're stuck with ---freshdomains, llc. I use a general marketing/creative, llc for tax purposes which allows me to easily adjust the DBA (doing business as) name without added cost if my focus changes.

One thing I would stay away from even if you really like it is regional/city names and your name in the company name.

What if you decide to sell it to a guy in Chicago? Or you want to expand more than just the limits of your city? Hard to sell services in New York when you're Pittsburgh Web Design LLC. And the name thing, if you decide to sell, do you know another person named Mike McAleer? I know you don't want to even think about selling anytime soon but these are things to think about.

It took me a month to come up with my LLC name. Constantly think of ideas and SLEEP on a good one, and if you like it in the morning, put it on another list. Ask people if they like the names etc.

Not sure where you are registering your LLC. Using the Wyoming Company for an LLC they had a list of LLC names also. Some were worth considering.

You could try using the ".co" extension, the only problem is people will likely type ".com" when they try to find your website.
