When optimizing a clients website, if they use the wordpress platform then its no problem for me to seo it, but for a html created website then what advice would you give to optimize it to climb up the pages, im stuck with this as I find wp easy, but the other hard, thanks, Mick.

    I have had this problem. If it HTML you can try and use the tool they used for it like Dreamweaver. But, you need the tool which can be expensive. I just used FTP and a text editor. I get access to the site, download all of the HTML pages, go in and edit the meta tags, alt tags and so forth. Where the real issue is, is if you want to play with the content and for that you do in fact need an HTML editor. I believe you can get MS Frontpage 2003 for free if you have Office. There are lots of other HTML editors for free like Nvu and Komposer. I really hate having to do things this way though, there are a lot of really crappy HTML sites out there!
