Google will send out a photographer to take picture of the business and then upload them to your Places Page, alternatively, you can just do this yourself....

    Thanks for the info. If you have a nice camera, I would personally do it yourself. The photographers are people that signup to take pictures of businesses and they get a small payment from google for the work. So they can be using all types of camera's, and that isn't to say they will do as nice a job as you would

    On a related note, whatever happened to Google's program where they hired people to go out to businesses and input their information, when they first launched the Google Maps stuff? This was like 5 years ago, but I remember applying for that job after college graduation. I think they might have given you a camera for that job to take interior/exterior pictures as well? I wonder if this is basically a relaunch of something similar....

    Anyone remember that program?

      Regarding the inputting of information for businesses - I think there is no such practice already, but I have heard something about people being "hired" to help with the Map Maker program.

      Regarding the Business Photos launch - it was actually officially presented just this week, but previously there has been such practice. I had heard only about a few US businesses being shot by Google photographer, but just a couple of days ago I heard about an Australian one as well. So this is just an official launch.
