My customers Google places listing not showing, please help?

by Alfred Shelver 10 replies
Hi I am sure this has been asked on this forum a whole lot, but I could not find an answer.

I set up a places listing for my client and even validated it with Google over the phone etc. it shows validated, but i cannot ever find it no matter what I search on google it does not come up over places.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cathy

Did you fully optimize the listing and set up the citations first ? Google sometime does take a while to get the listings live.

Cathy, the easiest way to check if your client's Place page is live is to go to the Google Places dashboard and click on "View" in the upper right corner. You could then post the link here so we can check it up and give you some additional tips, although I am pretty sure the problem is that it currently has 0 citations and 0 reviews, as well as it is not merged with the website of your client (if they have such). Regarding the citations, I've written an article on them which you could find here: goo.gl/lCU0R

I get same situation after completing listings for clients... they don't show up in search even though they are fully complete and verified etc. It's very frustrating, especially after showing the client how useful the listings are. I find the whole process finicky (notice how I'm using nice words like "quirky" and "finicky"?

I think you need to get reviews done by your client's customers, sort of like getting LIKES in facebook.

Question...if it is the only listing in your area will Google show it or will they wait for a group of businesses before publishing?

Good question, I know this is the only one I see listed in my area, but I have seen google places listings containing only one company.

You are my new Best Friend (please) LOL, your article was very good and you really seem to know your stuff. I will look for the link you mentioned and I will put it up.

I would love to learn more as there is little to know Gplaces competition in my part of the world so it could be very lucrative for me if I get it right.

PS do you know of anyone that offers a citations creating service?

        Hi Cathy ,

Usually, a listing goes live almost immediately, although Google gives 24 hrs i think.

It might also be a problem with Google too. i had a problem with a listing i claimed about 3 weeks ago.
2 days ago i checked it from Google places back-end and it showed as VERIFIED! but when i checked it live in Google results , it was unclaimed. and all the optimization work i did was not there.

        very strange situation.

honestly i don't remember exactly what caused it to get fixed , but i think i tried to claim it again and then it got updated again.

so, you can definitely expect bugs in Google Places.

You can apply for free license of the GETMELISTED Local SEO tool . this tool is able to tell you in real time if your business location is claimed in Google bing and yahoo and what is his rank.

check the link in my signature.

        hope it helped somehow

      Hi Cathy,

Google Places can take a while to be seen on the SE's, but as mentioned above, it really can depend on how well the listing is optimized and the number of Citations.

If you're sill looking for Citations, please see my sig. Feel free to email or PM with any questions.

      Thanks

      Rob
