I've looked at many programs, systems, tools, etc. to sell SEO and SEM to local businesses. Some are very informative with ideas that seem viable, but are mostly unproven. Others are good old fashion door to door sales techniques.

I'd like to know your real life experiences. In your opinion...

1) What is the best advice you'd give to a newbie?
2) Did you purchase a program/system, or develop your own approach?
3) Who is the best offline guru?
4) Is your offline income just okay, real good, or great?

The best advice I can give someone just starting in their offline adventure is to stick with it. It will be tough at first, find a way that works and expand the idea. Don't give up. You will be turned down, just a fact of life, but the ones that realize that you can help their business will be eternally greatful.

    2) Did you purchase a program/system, or develop your own approach?
I did my own thing, I started a while back before I even knew about the Warrior Forums. Wish I would have known then, it would have been a bit easier. However, the best learning is always trial and error, what works for some doesn't work for all.

    3) Who is the best offline guru?
Gonna leave this one vague because anyone can be a guru if the timing is right. Just learn what you can from the available resources and you will succeed.

    4) Is your offline income just okay, real good, or great?
My income is definitely better than some. On average I do between $7500 and $12000 a month recurring and another $6000 to $9000 for one time deals. I have a pretty good team that is well worth the money paid, and we are starting another venture that is gonna be huge, only time will tell. Just fyi, it has taken me a few years to be able to do this. But so worth it.

1.) Don't spend all your money on WSO's and planning. Go out and get business whether it's cold calling, emails, etc just go out and look for business.

2.) The best approach depends on your style of doing business.
Example John Durham can cold call and get business all day every day.
I personally am more of a video/email type of guy, but thats just me.

3.) There is no "best offline guru" to be honest. You can pick up various methods of getting clients from different people. 1 WSO can teach you all about cold calling, another can provide you solid email templates and etc.

3.)Your income is what you make of it, There are some warriors here who make $10K a month. IT all depends on your price/experience/confidence and what you offer.

    Tim,

    In order:
    1) Don't think about making money. Think about creating value for your client.
    2) Instead of buying stuff, talk to local business people. Take surveys. Find out
    who THEIR ideal customer is.
    3) I really don't believe in "Gurus". Nobody does what I do better than I ca. But
lots of people have ideas that I have not had. Feel free to steal, but thank them.
    4) My income is about what I want it to be. At my age, I don't want to work harder.

I would say first put together a "case studies" file that shows the results you've attained from your previous clients. Along with the case studies, put forth any testimonials and offer a guarantee of some sort.
I've used a mixture of my personal techniques along with information that i have learn in courses.

One offline guru that i recommend is Dan Kennedy. Jay Abraham is good too, but he charges like $5,000 for one marketing tape. Not to say the information is bad... it's just hella expensive.

My income is good, but i'm "getting off the porch" so that i can make more.
