Ranking Advice needed....

I have a client that is a jewelry store owner. He wants global/nationwide 1st page rank for some keywords and wants a quote. I have seen some good offers for SEO 1st page rank guarantees on the WF lately.

Any suggestions on a guaranteed rank master with decent pricing? Thanks in advance!

Here are the problems you are going to find.... the people that guarantee a ranking, are either bogus, require making the site and hosting, or the ranking won't last. I think it would be safe to guarantee a page, but not the actual rank.

It really depends on the keywords. If it were my client he'd be paying $3,000 a month minimum for at least 4-6 months.

There are some good services here, but make sure you charge the business owner a good monthly fee, because you are going to want to use some of that fee to fund more seo for his site week after week, month after month.

do your research. The last thing you need is page 1 one day, and page 7 the next day. Good way to lose a client.

Make sure you print out a screenshot of the amount of searches that term gets and the number of competing sites.

This way he knows why he's paying so much.

As iAmNamesless said, you simply cannot guarantee them a #1 spot. If you do this, then you'll likely sign a contract with them and if you don't meet it you have not met the contract agreement and you could be in some trouble.

Make it clear that you don't own or control Google so you don't know if you can get a page 1, top spot ranking. I think their business would be much better off with being on the first page of a nationwide search anyway, as it sounds like they're no where to be found right now.

If you over-promise to them now you only increase their expectations of your work. Better to guarantee a page 1 ranking and then work hard to get it in the top 3, rather than the inverse.

You need to have a candid discussion with your client.

Viable long-term SEO simply doesn't work like that.

If all he's finding value in is the ability to obtain a Page 1 rank, then there's a total misunderstanding of how rank works.

Besides, why in the world would you ever guarantee results from something you can't fully control?

      Agreed.

I would counter with, "Is it more important for you to be #1 on Google for the global search results, or is it more important that you get your website in front of the people most likely to buy your products?"

Then I would explain that search engine optimization can be extremely profitable, or it could be a money pit that delivers no substantial return on investment.

I would advise him to target the low-hanging fruit in SEO first, targeting potential clients in his local market area first, then as he starts to see sales from his local SEO presence, he could start investing some of his profits to reach the larger market place.

Yep, as Max said: and also, why don't you discuss the potential in the more 'hidden' search terms which would probably be exponentially easier to rank for (now is where you can more comfortably offer a higher ranking - but still not a guarantee of #1). These smaller search terms might add up to the same amount of traffic but be a lot less work? Just a thought.

How can you guarantee something that you have no chance of controlling?

Google can change anything on the fly which could easily impact your rank (i.e. Panda update).

You're approaching a slippery slope with such a promise...even just promising first page rankings.

I would agree with the following post. I have tried the guarantee page one rankings for one of my clients for $$ and yeah it works, but it won't last and it will be one of those things where you give them 5 words and they will rank the easiest of those keywords to rank. Not worth it if you ask me. I found a more professional SEO person on the Warrior Forum and ask them to quote me for one of my clients sites and keywords and it was in the ballpark of $$$$. You get it. You can do SEO yourself if you have knowledge of it....it really isn't magic, but you can't control Google, only Google controls Google.
