Well that just depends on the product or service you are giving out online, I have seen people use newspapers, magazines, fliers, business cards, radio, tv, and a few other things.

You could use direct mail postcards that lead a prospect to your opt-in page. Leads acquired from offline means are crazy lucrative. The bad thing is the cost of direct mail to get these leads - which is why i said postcards.

If direct mail and postcards aren't your cup of tea, you could always go down to your local chamber of commerce to hook up with business owners in your area. Most of them probably dont believe in the power of the internet, but you can open their eyes up to the possibly of a second (almost automatic) income in their business.

Be sure to hand out your business card to the business owners here, and make sure it's benefit oriented, and that it leads them to your website. Once they visit your webpage, offer a free gift that will incite them to opt-in to your email newsletter.

This is just a start, but there are tons of other things that you can do also.

You can promote it with any promotions:
    - have a talk show with your local radio stations
    - advertise in your local magazine/ newspaper
    - brochures, seminars, workshop,
    - anything you need just a bit creativity

Generate QR Code of your website and place an ad in your local newspaper with your both QR Code and website address. The QR Code is for mobile user(you may need a mobile version of your site though) and your website address for desktop users.

It's important to understand that there are two key elements to marketing, advertising, promoting or whatever name you want to give it.

      1) The Marketing Strategy. This is just what it says, the strategy you use. This could be flyers, direct mail, newspaper ads, radio, postcards, etc.

      2) The Marketing Piece. With every marketing strategy, you have the marketing piece. Even with radio ... the piece is the radio ad, the words used.

From over 25 years of marketing to local businesses I can tell you that when it comes to generating leads, when a strategy flops very seldom is it the the marketing strategy. It's almost always the marketing piece!

I've watched excellent marketing strategies flop because the marketing piece wasn't compelling and failed at doing it's job. In the same respect, I've watched businesses use terrible marketing strategies but because they had a killer marketing piece they still succeeded.

My point is, I would put more emphasis on having a killer marketing piece written than worrying about how to promote your offline business. Most that fail do so because their marketing pieces suck! Just being blunt!

With a killer marketing piece, you'll succeed in just about any marketing strategy you use. Obviously, your results will differ by the medium you use, but with that killer piece you'll still generate leads. Therefore, once you create that killer piece, then it's a matter of testing it in different mediums to find the marketing strategy that will generate the most leads for you.

Marketing piece first, marketing strategy second. Of course, it goes without saying that you should know what medium you want your marketing pieces so you're creating the right kind of marketing piece for that medium.

Well, you could always start down the path of traditional media - Newspaper, magazine, flyers, postcards/direct mail, TV, etc...

Or, maybe sit down and figure out a way to use some Guerrilla methods to really make an impact.

Whatever you choose, make sure that it's easy for someone to take action, remember your site, etc..

i.e. a billboard wouldn't be very advisable unless you can REALLY come up with a hard core sticky marketing message that will allow your prospect to REMEMBER your website address for 15 minutes or more, AND be focused enough to go home and look at it before they forget.

Instead, focus more on stuff that is stored closer to the computer and use that to your advantage.

I actually had some sticky notes made with my website address on the top of them, and got some decent results. I suspect that this was because people would keep them by their office stuff and eventually looked at the site when they stuck a sticky note to a computer monitor or something.

    See the difference?

To promote any business be it an on line one or one in the 'real' world, we have a fantastic affiliate product (it's our product but we have it on Clickbank too) which has been years in the making. It is known as Guerrilla Marketing Formula. If you are tired of paying out thousands of dollars in advertising that does not show results which can be tested and measured then this could be for you. It has certainly worked for my day to day business and helped me become a market leader in my field. I was so impressed that some friends and I approached the author about a JV to market it online!

The secret is to follow the program to get know your market, where it looks for information, why they buy, when they buy and who makes the decisions. Once you do this research and establish your own unique client advantage you can dominate your makret through stealth and all without spending lots of money. It does not matter if you provide a sesrvice or sell a product I have seen first hand evidence of this in action and it works.

The product is avalaible on our site or if anyone wants to promote itas an affiliate, it is available on a search of the marketplace in clickbank. Happy to answer questions.

Do you have the funds to do television advertising? Match.com and Eharmony.com are doing this to promote their site. Maybe you can take your site and "nichetize" it to your local city. Is the product or service that you're offering confined to a local area or can it go national?
