What kind of SEO is still working???

Since I started my biz earlier this yr, I have been using mainly spun articles from a very well known provider on this forum. They were money up until the past 3 weeks. I could get ranked on page 1 for a term with 2k searches in less than a wk. Now, for terms with no shown monthly searches I can't even get on page one after 3 weeks. My business is picking up nicely. I just need to know what kind of links to use now for my SEO. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Patience is key on SEO. Sometimes it will take more than 3 weeks for your terms to rank well.

    Steady link building and content update will make your site strong.

    And remember SEO if anything is a number's game. Keep posting, keep backlinking.

    • i agree with u ....that you need patience...because when u done your seo with the tools of white hat....than almost 1 months is necessary to get traffic result from the search engine.....
  • I think you have to update your content first.. Because in Search Engine Optimization Content is Real King.. Then you have to focus on off page remedies.. Keeping Generating Qualitative backlinks for your website and after some time you will observe that you will back in business..
  • @rolltide the best way to look at your seo is not from one strategy such as articles. Even though content is king as they say it is good to have a well rounded focus with seo.
    For example use press releases, guest blogging, articles, bookmarking, indexing, podcasting. Have a look whats working for your competition and do one better.

    • Another Seo question ? If you guys have a Business that is in a field with a lot of competition would you use a lot of PR to rank the Business to the top ? Or post articles and Blog updates. Keep in mind the Business is on page 10 and the owner wants page 1 ASAP

  • I've started doing a lot of high PR backlinking (mainly blog comments, but also some forum links, blog posts, and profile links). I had been doing the same as you -- lots of article marketing, sending out thousands of spun articles and links. That seemed to work great in the past, but not so much now. A few months ago I started working with lower quantities of high PR backlinks and am seeing much better results. I also like that I am not spreading my clients' links out to thousands of different places with questionable content.

    I do agree with everyone that SEO requires patience. That's easy for us to understand, but sometimes clients need to be told that repeatedly. Sometimes they don't "get it" until they finally see their sites ranking well. Such is life!

    • try using the articles in web 2.0 properties and backlinking that with social bookmarking and a few blog posts.

      About the thing about fresh content, content is king, bla bla bla. I have to tell you something. I have seen thin sites with 2, 3 pages rank number one on Google for key frases that are searched 2k times a month for MORE THAT A YEAR WITHOUT UPDATES!

      Content is king if you want real people linking to you. Artificial link building is a different thing altogether.

      Now, if you are going with that, you could try a thing called Link Baiting. You make a post so interesting and provoking that people can´t resist and link to it. Some good link baits are top 10 lists, funny posts, how to make something really cool with only domestic, everyday stuff, etc.

      If your niche lends itself to localized marketing, perhaps you may wish to consider going somewhere along the lines of NicheCity [.] com, NicheCityState [.] com, CityNiche [.] com, or CityStateNiche [.] com (tld's and locality names subject to registration availability). You can use the appropriate keyword research tools to give you an idea on search volumes as well.

      This tends to work quite nicely as the competition for specific locality search is relatively low as of this posting in relation to the local keywords' generic counterparts. You also get the benefit of being the goto site for that locality/niche, and you might also benefit from direct type in traffic if the localized domain is short enough. La Jolla Plumber or La Jolla Plumbers are good examples though they're not available for registry.

      Lastly, these types of localized domains can also be promoted in local print publications as well since the readers will probably be most comfortable dealing with someone specifically servicing their community.

  • With the right affiliate marketing software, you can give your affiliates a customizable link where the domain is your URL, but the end of URL is your affiliate's unique ID. With alot of affiliates promoting your affiliate URL, you will gain a ton of relevant backlinks to your website. Start an affiliate program and start promoting it everywhere. Clickbank, Paydotcom, etc.
  • It's no secret. You got to continue to do both On-page and Off-page SEO.
    On-page SEO deals with your website everything on page. Off-page SEO is everything that happens outside your website but about your website. I apply the 70/30 rule :
    70% of my effort on off-page optimization and 30% on on- page factors. Relevant content is key as well.
  • If you're looking to do social bookmarking, outsource the job to someone you can find on Fiverr or other places.

    It costs $5 and they'll submit your website for bookmarking to usually 100+ sites.
    I also found someone who gives you 20+ backlinks on .edu sites for the same cost as well.
  • I can tell you that most of the comments in this thread, are absolutely.... wrong.

    I don't really want to debate with people, and don't want to check back at this thread to see someone calling blasphemy. Don't waste your time with profile links, forum posting, poorly spun articles, etc. Do they work? Not like they used to. Profile links are nearly useless, but entirely useless in forms of traffic(that is what really matters right?). The thing is, most "popular" SEO "tricks", don't work.

    Don't listen to anybody that has a link in their sig advertising link services, they just want your money. The truth is, you need to do much more than spam low quality links.

    Certain aspects of linkbuilding will always work, but you need to be smart about it. There aren't many hidden secrets in SEO, just work and patience.

  • You probably don't want to hear this, but when it comes to google... what they said on their blog in relation to best practices for SEO.

    The whole google game is always in flux and always changing. I note you said you were using spun content and only article writing.

    Never Ever put all your egs in one basket. You need a variety of links. Google shook things up with the article directories and this may have effected you. Basically google dinged them, and they now want longer quality articles that are relevant. Meaning that posting the same articles is not cutting it any more and spun articles are not as effective any more. Google want quality stuff, and spinning is not what google wants. So if you are spinning them you need to make sure they are readable and high quality and relevant. You may still get hit if your content has a high duplicate content rate.

    Look into spreading out your content among different things. Like adding video, blogging, and other types of media.

    Social bookmarking, Unique contents, Press releases, forum and blog postings are the best and new techniques for SEO. These are the terms that are using by most of the online marketing and consulting companies.

  • With Google recent panda update SEO is pretty much changing but I put on a video on my facebook page (facebook.com/localleadmaximizer). That video there will show you what is changing about SEO, how it is going to work. Mainly the most important thing I think right now for SEO is good quality and unique content. That means that it is not spun and not taken from any another source is actually unique connected with getting it share socially so that people will like it.

  • White Hat SEO methods are still working and it is really effective and one can use all its methods without getting worrying about any thing.
  • All the basics of traditional SEO and backlinking still works. The best method is to create keyword rich articles and content.
  • I think nowadays the SEO world is stormed by lots of automated programs that do the thousands of work in just one click. I think it is just like robots replacing human labor in the factory, if you know what I mean...
  • I've been very successful with SEO in some highly competitive local markets. What works for me is 1) patience and 2) mixing things up. Patience means it takes months, not days or weeks, to make a positive impact. Mixing things up means web 2.0, articles, profiles, lots of sophisticated double backlinking (where you backlink the backlink--I'm not sure everyone calls it that), comments on blogs, etc. Also, you can't forget keyword research! You've got to pick the right target. And, on-site SEO, which I find is done right about 40% of the time when I look at sites that are supposed to be SEO optimized.
