Some thoughts on long-term prospecting & success
I'm writing this post because I just checked my traffic stats and saw I had a visit from Google for the term "restaurant marketing with birthday clubs." A few nights ago I wrote a blog post discussing this.
While it may not be an immediate way of obtaining clients, I think that creating content which draws in a certain targeted group could lead to a great inbound marketing system down the road.
Anybody who sells any offline services knows that getting clients is the toughest part, especially in the beginning. The second problem comes with the quality of the client and the overall profit made.
I specifically wrote that post knowing that a "birthday club" is a great marketing strategy for restaurants that builds customer loyalty and can create an email marketing list and campaign. I didn't act salesy at all - but at the end I made a quick note that we handle this kind of thing.
This type of visitor is the type of client I want. They're smart enough to be searching out information on growing their business and they probably will have a budget. Sure, an email marketing set-up might not be a huge ticket item, but you can upsell and the communication was initiated by them!
And the post only took me 15 minutes to write.
The whole point I'm trying to make is that while I know as well as anyone else the need for a solid current income, I think we should look at strategies that will help us grow, work with better clients, spend less time on outbound marketing, etc.
Would love to hear any thoughts on this ramble. Even more than that, would love to hear any tips/ideas on creating solid inbound marketing system for offline services.
