What resources do you use for SEO for local businesses?

I have a couple of sites that are still on second and third page on local keywords, so instead of re-inventing the wheel, (and wasting money on things that don't work) I thought I would ask my fellow warriors for help

Would you be willing to share what resources you use for SEO? I would like to automate this as much as possible so I don't have to submit articles and so on myself. But I definitely want a 1st page ranking.

It would really help if you want to share contacts also (who does it for you for example).

I'm new to the offline world and this little issue (BIG for me) is keeping me from contacting other businesses.

I bought several offline WSOs but when I tried what they suggested, I still didn't get the results I wanted. (maybe I didn't buy the right ones?)

Thanks all for reading this.

    [QUOTE=samrathgupta;3991959]Hi-

Since you have a local business I will strongly suggest you to add your business on google places

Why you should add your business on Google Place ?
    • Free Visitors from Google maps
    • #1 ranking guaranteed
    • Just takes 5-10 mins
    • No lengthy articles, blogs, backlinks to make
    • and much more
    QUOTE]

While it is strongly advised to list any local business in Google Places, there is much more to do to improve your search rankings...

Google places does NOT guarantee you #1 ranking as stated above...also backlinks, citations play huge in ranking high in the 7-box.

BUT....not all targeted keywords generate a Google Places 7-Box, 3-box or even a 1-box....thats why website optimization is so important....I say that to all my clients....just being in google Places does not cure all your search engine optimization needs...

Read up on how to properly optimize websites, on-page, off-page optimization. Join a couple SEO Forums or Blogs...helps wonders!
    Try this article for starters...

Look into search engine journal, Hubspot, search engine genie...some nice info there...

Search this forum...TONS of info here...a couple SEO threads right on the first page here...

    Hope this helps,
    ~ken

One of the most important things you must do to get your maps listing ranked is post reviews to various citation sites like Yelp.

I use Local Business Listing Robot to post my reviews as they provide review posting for unlimited clients

There is only one resource that has worked since last November and that is SOFTWARE. People cannot emulate what software can tell you in seconds. Google uses very sophisticated software and trying to keep up with them using nothing but tricks and tips that haven't worked since 2004 is only good for product sales and launches and services that keep a lot of people working.

Where is the incentive to tell you what works? Who does that benefit? Nobody but you, the buyer of products and services. If they tell you (if they even know) what do they get in return? No more income, no more jobs is the incentive for NOT telling you anything except as little as possible. If you think that sounds harsh, it's not. That's the reality of business in a dog-eat-dog world.

Your only choice is asking the hard questions. Stop and think. People are happy when you do what they want. When you stop and buck the system, what happens? Are you in business to make money or friends? When you realize there are no friends in business, there is no choice. What would Donald Trump do? Get information from sources that have no motive or incentive for what they tell you. You should only pay for performance not promises if you want guaranteed results. http://www.ez-1.net/rank

The ONLY other way to get results like page rank, back links and page ONE listing and especially if you want more traffic - CONVERSIONS. Your results come from people who find what they are looking and come back for more. If Google doesn't see evidence of conversions, you won't get rewarded with results. Start with getting people to download what you have using a coupon code through your checkout and watch what happens and don't give up.

You will probably (but maybe not?) have to wait until Google sees consistent traffic and consistent conversions before they trust your site. That's why you should never index any site without content, conversions and a steady flow of real traffic. Cost: $20/mo - Good for you but not for anyone else.

I retired in 2005 at 43 and now I give away websites like these for FREE [hosting excluded]

When you make at least $100+ per month, we split the profit 80/20 and YOU get the 80% Until then, you keep 100% and I'll help you drive traffic, get backlinks and put the domain in your name too!

Where is your affiliate disclaimer about our earnings potential for including your affiliate link in your post.

Now everything you said is suspect.

I have no clue what you're talking about.

The challenge is free and I make no affiliate income from it.

I think you may be talking about my affiliate links that I left there a couple months ago. I had no idea you couldn't put affiliate links in the body of a post.

Glad you brought that to my attention.

I think Google Analytics and Webmaster Tools are wonderful tools for SEO, especially for beginners. It's easy to use, it's detailed and it's free. You should be able to access it if you have an account in Gmal. hope this helps

    Here's the my Audio Response.

    Here's my response.

The first thing that I am looking for when working for a local business is if the Google pack shows up for a keyword that is over type in to find up business in your city.

I used the Local Lead Maximizer to find that.
For article syndication, I used the Article Marketing Automation (AMA).
In getting sites index, I used Ping Kaching.
Lastly, for videos, article, blog, and social sites, I am using Traffic Geyser.

Thanks everybody your responses. How about who you use for SEO? Who do you outsource it to?

I'm looking for a more "hands-off" approach so I can focus on getting clients. But it has to be a trustworthy person since my business is on the line...

I tried a few backlinking services and they did help but after a few days my sites started to slip down the rankings... I hired a fellow warrior yesterday for one of the sites and I have a feeling that it will work out, but I'm looking for all the options possible so I can decide on the best.

    thanks for helping out!

I actually use traffic geyser for video and article submissions. It seems to work fine. I am not in such a small town, but it seems to help. I do have to admit I am pretty new still and there is so much to learn. It took me awhile but im finally implementing strategies to getting them ranked. It seems like there is a change everyday with google.
