Would you buy from this website? Urgent advice needed please!

This is one of my clients who runs a very expensive clothes shop in the UK. She gets between 1450 -1700 visitors every month but since I have taken on the account(5 months) she's only had about 2k of sales (about 10 customers) which is very, very poor.

Apart from the price of the clothes, do you think there is anything obvious about the site that may put people off buying?

Would you buy from a site that looks like this? Is the site to blame or the products on sale do you think?

I'm not sure what to suggest anymore...

Many thanks

Bridget

Fair point. Unfortunately it's catch 22, they can't afford to have anyone attending to the site full time because they're not earning enough from it. So when there's no stock in a particular designer, they leave the page blank instead of removing it. Thanks for your input Bruce.

I personally never buy clothes online. I might search the website and always go into store to buy it.

Try to speed it up if you can - Latest Performance Report for: http://www.plum-hale.co.uk/ | GTmetrix

When it comes to clothes, you want to show people wearing it. You don't want visitors to imagine in their head how their kids will look.

Maybe your focus should be to keep the website updated and target users who are within certain mile of the store. Give them a good site experience, so they come to store and buy

... Apart from the price of the clothes ...
You said it! I wouldn't pay some of those prices for clothes for myself, let alone for my child.

But, apart from that, I work for a client who added PayPal to their payment alternatives and has a slight increase in sales. Some people just hate having to set up a user account for each website they visit - and, I'm one of those people.

Another idea, on a particular client's website we pre-sell. i.e. we give information about the quality, unique features and benefits of the product before we ever get near to a webpage giving prices.

Perhaps your client could try this approach. Give a page detailing exactly why the boys swimshorts you provide are different from other brands and just why those differences mean a higher quality. Then have a call to action, pointing to an individual shop page where the £59 (!) price tag is revealed. Hopefully, if your customer gets this far, they will already have decided to buy the shorts regardless of the price.

Just a couple of thoughts that may, or may not, get you thinking.

Thank you for taking the time to reply Madeira. The price is eye watering isn't it? I like the presale idea. I will put that to her.

Paypal is another very good idea.

    Thanks again, Bridget

The intial photos of the boy in that shirt look liked something from the 1970's. Do those styles cause people to leave the site ?

The site looks good. It loads pretty quickly on my end. I would add a "shipping sale". Something like: "Free shipping on all orders over $100". Or you can do like Overstock does and offer shipping for $2.99 no matter how much you buy.

    My first impression... no excitement!

Maybe put some of the About page info on the home page. Also, the images look "washed-out". They are not professional images and don't match up with the top-side pricing on the site.

The blank pages will not instill much confidence. Populate all blank pages or at least hide them until they are ready for production. You should also look at the internal link structure.

Last but not least... your client needs backlinks and general exposure. When was the last press release distributed? What type fashion related content are they syndicating?

You have got your work cut out for you. My question is, what have you done in the way of marketing and promotion for the five months you have managed the account.
