Offer something for free. Could be free consultation, free report, free gift, free sample, and etc. Advertise your free offer in newspaper ads and via postcard/direct mail campaigns. If the copywriting is right, they can be sure to get alot of phone calls to their place of business.

It may be overdone in some markets, but regular posting of a Services Ad in Craigslist will probably get some immediate calls. Particularly for services like plumbing.

Couldn't agree more some of my first few clients were plumbers(because everyone said thats a great market lol) and nothing got the phone ringing faster than when I outsourced to craigslist posters and got an html ad made an them post like crazy. Works every time if the ad is enticing enough.

What would you charge for something like this?...

        Per post?

I usually pay .50 per post including pvas. I didnt think of posting on craigslist for a client mostly because most people on craigslist are cheap....but im thinking this would hurt to get some calls in while i work on the other stuff...

That's a little much...you have a great resource in front of you....philipines....craigslist... post for a virtual assistant on craigslist in the philipine craigslist...you can get it for 2 bucks an hour all day and they already know how craigslist works because they are on it....won't take much training and will be a hell of a lot less than .50 per post....u can use oDesk too and you can monitor the work diary with an employee first to see about how many posts they can get done per hour....oDesk will cost you slightly more....once you have that metric though you can go back to craigslist and hire someone for 1.50 or 2.00/hr and give them a mininum number of posts/hr that way you know your not getting hosed.....

that's just how i'd do it...

If it's a small community I usually use print advertising and pay some students to place the flyer on mail boxes. Nothing fancy, just a "We solve YOUR ######## problems in CITY ####### - Call us at ########".

Usually it works very well in small cities.
