What I find most amazing from those stats, is that 40% of groupon users make over $100K. WOW!

Shows you even those making good money still like a bargain :-)

Interesting stats. I have used Groupon before as a buyer..but never as a business. My experience was super positive.

I am actually about to unleash a campaign for one of my offline clients as we speak to test it out (he's a Doctor & an aggressive marketer). However, I'm in the process of deciding which service would be best for his practice. I've narrowed the services down to - Groupon OR Living Social Deals. Does anyone have any experience as an advertiser on either one of these?

I'll post my stats as soon as we make our decision and everything is complete.

If you want more info on the deal websites, hit me up. I own a deal of the day website and have alot of research in the area. Will be happy to share.

By the way, I know alot of people have mentioned retainability and that it is bad for business ect by running these deals. I will be happy to explain how that can be solved (I know groupon and alot of the other does have a solution in place for their businesses, but we do). You can retain some customers and you can make it good for the business, you just have to help them understand how to followup with customers and what sort of deal to run.

I do not have enough posts for PM's, but you can email me at charlesjones (AT) dealgoblin (DOT) com.

Did you know there is one more option? A new company called The Customer Advantage (TCA) will be launching very, very soon. If I had to guess probably within 2 weeks. The founder's vision is to help struggling small businesses and bring the dollar back to America. The advantage here is when you refer your clients to TCA you will get rewarded every time they make a purchase. You clients will get more customers in one day than they had all last year. You will also earn from people they invite to TCA 5 levels deep. I personally believe TCA will be bigger than Groupon in the long run. If you want more details, I have a 9 minute video on my web site that gives a good explanation. Click on my signature below.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but Customer Advantage has been in "pre-launch" since Feb. Several of their top recruits are frustrated and stopped promoting because their downline has been on hold for months. Just do a Google search and read the posts/forums.

When is Customer Advantage going to release some deals so reps can start making money? Also, as of now it looks like they are only going to do deals in 6 cities.

Love the concept/idea but execution has been horrible so far.

Do more research and you will find that one of the challenges
for discount offer advertisers is customer retention. The majority
of discount shoppers take advantage of the deal and move on.

Thanks for the information. I found that small business owners have a problem with upselling after a groupon campaign resulting in low levels of client retention as stated above.

Groupon is killing the small businesses. I don't blame groupon for it, but I do blame the small businesses that do not take the time to look it through enough. Many of them are not prepared for the amount of influx of customers, and are not prepearred for the pay scheme that groupon puts out there. Many small businesses have to use them again just to cover the one that they just did. Its hard, but if they would just do their research, they would see that their are other great ways to accomplish the same goal.

Do you think these businesses are collecting names, emails, or phone numbers to continue a marketing relationship with or is this just a one time deal for most to get business in the door?

Thank you for sharing this. Looks interesting.
Groupon can be very good sources for finding offline businesses.
