Hi all,

Wondering if anyone knows of any (1)Good & (2)Affordable SMS short code platforms that have a backend for clients to log into to do all their texting and to manage their accounts. A white label platform or a script that integrates with other companies even maybe.

I've seen one somewhere around, but am looking for other options to compare to.

Thanks in advance

Russell =)

  • I am using OpenVBX and now have 2 clients who have paid me even before their 7 day free trial (that I set up for them) ran out. And this in just the last couple days. You can set it up with your own logo and impress the heck out of potential clients. I may use other services in the future, I don't know yet, but OpenVBX is working for me now.

    • Thanks Robert, PM Sent =)

How are you setting that up then Michael? Are you integrating that with Twilio?

Either way, those are long codes not short codes then right?

Thanks again, and definitely interested in how you're doing this with OpenVBX =P

If you're looking for a white label mobile marketing solution, I'd recommend that you take a look at Trumpia SMS Texting service.

  • I have a free mobile marketing forum. We have a special deal for our forum members with a full white label SMS platform. There are too many features to list here but it comes with a very comprehensive client dashboard. The dashboard is completely branded with your company's logo so it looks like YOU ARE the platform.
For my forum we have the $400 set up fee and the $300/mo licensing fee WAIVED for life. The costs are $9.95 per active acct, $2/keyword, and 1.5ยข a message. You create your own resell packages and pricing and can do 30 day free trials as you only pay for the "active accounts".
Some of the features you wont find everywhere - you can post your SMS coupon to a FB page and customers wishing to receive it have to opt in to the campaign first. They also integrate with APIs directly to your fanpage or website. The biggest one is the fact they can track and monitor coupon redemption so that customers cannot reuse or share coupons with others who have not opted in. They also do beautiful mobile landing pages for specific product promotion or branding for larger companies. Here is the link to more info and again you would have to sign up for the forum to receive the above pricing but its free:

  • Certainly Vince - Unfortunately the way Short Message Service is completely different in Europe than here in the US, which is why (at least as far as Im aware of) there is no US provider currently offering services in the UK. I do know they are planning a Canadian launch but that is basically our ugly cousin here in the US (Im just kidding Canadians/ I love Canada I have a mobile marketing forum I run and there are some UK members. I will see what kind of recommendations they give me and post what ever I find on this thread.

    • Yep Text is Local Mobile Monopoly - their service is good - and prices are going down - they seem to be experiencing great success. I have an account with them.

They are promising a Customer Service phone number very soon - email CS only is not a good idea for a service like this.
      • [1] reply
  • Alton, here's an example that might explain. Lime charges you 9.95 per active account, 1.5 cents per message, and 2.00 per additional keyword. If you add thirty active accounts that don't send a single message, your biil from Lime would be 298.50. Lime will add 1.50 to this and bill you $300. If you have 31 accounts tuat don't send a single message, your bill from Lime will be 308.45, so you've met the minimum volume requirement so all you will owe is the 308.45. Other providers will bill you the usage, 308.45 PLUS a $300 licensing fee.

This is wholesale pricing. You set your own retail price so you determine how much profit you want to make.

    • Not sure what you mean. SMS (Short Message Service) is text message marketing. I dont think there is any way to use it to help your Page Rank with Google.
  • I signed up with yeptext but it was way to IM for me (I am an internet marketer, and so is Adam Horowitz, the owner, and it was pretty obvious that he was an IMer at heart, not an SMS provider). So I switched to Trumpia. I just got my merchant account up and running yesterday so I go live hopefully on Monday. The white label reseller program may be what you are looking for.
    • [1] reply
    • Trumpia is a great company. They just require a lot of money out of pocket.

  • I am actually happy with YepText. It has worked great so far for me and I have had no tech issues that required their customer service as of yet. It is a little pricey, but imo it works totally fine. Also, you now get QR codes automatically generated for each yepword. I will say that local mobile monopoly was NOT worth $77, as it just goes over how to use yeptext in essence.
  • @kiwichamp - i see your in Texas too!

You said you would have trouble marketing "warrior" to a 10 digit number - i dont think you will.... i am in Texas too and tested the water for the first time with long codes last week and spoke to 4 businesses and signed them ALL up for different packages - i also up sold my QR code tracking service and sold two mobile websites...

Just for doing those sales pitches i made approximately $700/monthly in new recurring fees, $1000 in mobile web site sales and $400 in setup fees thats on top of everything else i do - so overall pretty pleased with last weeks meetings

I dont doubt i will continue to increase week to week with these figures as i rinse and repeat

You said "I think I would have trouble marketing that one." change your mindset - how do you know till you try? It's almost like you have failed the concept in your own mind already... when in fact you could potentially make some good $$ and provide a great service to other business owners.

I am using my own custom developed openvbx script with twilio and it works great

I guess i am lucky too that i have access to a newly launched private shortcode too so have the best of both worlds if i need access to either resource ie shortcodes/longcodes
    • [3] replies
    • Has Twilio finally launched their short codes? How much are they?

      Thomas
      • [1] reply
    • I dont think the problem is in as much selling the services with a long code, as to what type of results the business will have, and thus how long will they be a client.

      • [1] reply
    • Ok - sounds like a plan - mmm I am in San Antonio too

My doubts on the long codes really stemmed from the fact that I have only seen short codes advertised, and actually wondered whether the long codes would be as readily accepted.
  • typically when people call or text someone for the first time they usually have to enter the full number anyway... providing the call to action is in place and the service caters for the whats in it for me for the end user i don't see it being an issue to type in a few extra digits... besides that you can always use a QR code to pre-populate the sms message

i think you will find more people here in san antonio are more used to texting people on a regular telephone number and are more confused about whats a shortcode... just my observation...

i personally think the sales was more due to the dial in features... some people are still not comfortable with texting but calling... common now everyone knows how to make a phone call!
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

  • I am integrating with Twilio. And so far only long codes (real phone numbers) but Twilio says they are rolling out short codes in the near future. So far I really like the set up using OpenVBX. I can see that I will probably getting gotomeeting or something similar to show clients how to use. I already did a video to show one - how to navigate and set up messages
    • [1] reply
    • Twilio is a great service and the OpenVBX is fairly easy to use and demonstrate with, however it has it's limitations unless you are a developer of plugins/modules etc. I am impressed with the OpenVBX app but decided to build a complete SMS platform using their API. Yes it takes time and money but giving a client access to all the capabilities of SMS thru an Admin panel and application makes it easy for them and us.

      Good luck and good selling.
  • Why not have the business owner just send out messages to the list directly from their cell phone? It easy with OpenVBX. To be honest, I really don't want my clients "logging" into anything if they don't have to. If they learn how to do that, they could just shop around and find a cheaper service to log into and send out their messages.

I just set up the OpenVBX flows so that my clients are able to send out messages to a list from their cell phone. Use the dispatch portion of Chad Smith's subscription plugin within your SMS flow. Give the business owner's cell phone sole permission so that messages sent other than your subscribe keywords, are then dispatched directly to their list.

Just be sure they know to keep it to 160 characters, and to include the unsubscribe info at the end of the text message. Anyone else trying to send or reply on their number will get a message saying they don't have permission to do that. Works great.

    The advantage of this method?

In their eyes, I stay the programming guru. It also makes it super easy for them, because they never have to log into dashboards, etc, they just send the message to the entire list right from their own cell phone. At 1 cent per message, just figure out your pricing accordingly so you make a hefty profit each month.
    • [1] reply
    • How do you control the pricing, if you allow them to send messages themselves? Can you create limits for amount of messages they can send out with Twilio?

      Thomas

PS. I know that at 1 cent a minute, even 10,000 messages would only amount to $100/mo, but I just wonder if there is a way to limit the amount of messages...

  • I've been looking at Avid mobile and Lime cellular lately. I'm liking Lime cellular right now.
  • OK....I've purchased OfflineMan's program, and that's probably what you're looking for....I've been impressed with it so far, so you might check it out.

I'm definitely interested to see what BrashImpact is coming out with....

Now....to you guys that are all "white label sms" groups. Just a suggestion for you....there's a BIG customer base on here and it doesn't seem like you're "getting" them...

    Here's what I'm looking for....
    1. White Label Selling SMS Services AND Management to my Clients
    2. Allowing my Clients the Ability to manage their account if they want to...and if I WANT THEM TO!!!
    3. Maintaining CONTROL of my clients accounts so they don't slit their own throats by sending out too many texts at once, etc...

Here's what I see you selling me:
    1. White Label Platform where I sell them SMS
    2. They get their own login and I tell them "good luck"....

I don't want to sell them on that.....I want them to paypal me money, and I want to set it up!!! I sure as he!! don't want them to have to learn a system unless they want to! I want to give them a frigging code to market, and give them a box of table tops with their code on it, and train them to tell their customers about it! I WANT TO BE IN CONTROL!!! I WANT TO BE THE "MAGIC"!!! I WANT TO BUILD THEIR LIST!!!

He!! ... If I didn't go with OfflineMan's MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, then I'd just take the cheapest reliable system, buy one keyword, and just add to it when I sold someone...just buying the keyword myself. No need for a "white-label" if I'm not even going to give them the login for it, right??

Now, once they've seen success with me, I want to give them a login and the ability to add a text or change one without me in the picture. If a restaurant is having a slow day, I want them to be able EVENTUALLY to login with ease, and send out a text right then once I've already established a list and the power of the system.

Does that make sense??? I'm not selling them "SMS".....I'm selling them a complete done for you managed campaign....which I build for them...thereby building long-term security for them. White-Label doesn't mean a thing to me unless I'm able to manage EVERYTHING if I want to, and then allow them to do so at the point that I feel that they won't screw everything up! If I went with a different provider, I wouldn't even give them login info. They would just know to market their SMS code, and then "magic happens"!!

OfflineMan is the ONLY one I've seen so far that's offering a comprehensive SMS Sales AND MANAGEMENT tool that allows this!!!

    • Jason,

I don't recall doing a live demo for you, if I have then I apologize. However the platform we have developed does indeed have a client login and an Admin login. Does have paypal integration, can be set up automatically, can be managed by the consultant or client, reports client side and administrator side and offers unlimited everything - message,keywords,groups,auto-responders,scheduling system.
If you buy it you own it and never pay any fees except to the SMS gateway. Put it on YOUR host and run any business model you want, mix and match business models within the same system.

Now the best part- the interface is the easy, unclutered most intuituve interface available. Nothing to distract the user or admin

If you have not had a demo I invite you to try our system and get real rates without anything else added on.

send me a PM with your e-mail address and we'll connect
  • Jason, what you've described above is easily achievable with many systems out there... TXT180 would be one of them. Check their reseller program. I think Avid and Lime also have it available.

  • Looks like Yadatext uses SMTP gateway? So it sends out text through email servers? Can subscriber call or text in a keyword to subscribe? Subscribers should be able to opt out by texting back a keyword to get out of the database. I would be somewhat leery about sending via email servers. Carriers can filter those out pretty quick.
    • [2] replies
    • We've been operating for 5 full months now in 17 states without 1 problem.

The software uses what is called the mms gateway which is the same gateway your images follow or videos. Spam is not an issue with our program. You can opt out by reply stop or by submitting your number to the unsubscribe form and you will be immediately removed. 4 years ago this was a problem but today with all the unlimited plans, there is simply no way this is an issue.

The only difference between my program and the iziggs of the world is cost. We fill the gap for businesses that simply cannot afford the fees and monthly commitments.

We're doing the same thing as AWeber does for email only were providing messaging to cell phones which has a much greater open rate.

By the time you invest the minimums in these other programs and then find out it's not so easy to get businesses to sign up, you could have already been making our service available to mom and pop businesses and make money doing it.

    • This is the last time this software will be available for private use. A membership program is currently in development by a member of this forum whom I cannot reveal at this time but who is well known. I am turning this over to their group and they are going to release a major program within the next 60-90 days which will include the coding for developing private text list development in the members area. I do not have the details but for now I am making 50 copies of this available for private license. I use the software in my own area and simply do not want the responsibility of maintaining areas outside of my community. I am already working full time developing Facebook business pages for companies and just recently began developing a new concept on Facebook called "Virtual Open House" See Virtual Open House - Real Estate - Hailey, ID | Facebook

When you have several businesses like I have, you have to decide which ones are worth working and which should be JV'd like I'm doing with YadaText.

My work developing Facebook pages and helping Real Estate Professionals and FSBO is more profitable and easier to handle nationwide.

I also have my own product which is about to be released to the 7/11 convenience store chain and Circle K. See the website Solutions For Smokers In The No Smoke Zone and the Facebook page for it where I use a live walk on presentation at Smoking Solutions | Facebook

For those of you who are doing Facebook page building, this is a huge seller (live walk on presentations on Facebook) and very easy to implement.

Well Bill is this enough personal disclosure for you? LOL

There is a lot of money to be made in the Text Marketing business but it works only if you work it in your local market.

    • I agree with this. Looking for something where the only thing that clients can do is to send texts and view reports.

      @STEVE

I checked out your video about your system and had a question regarding the above. Was that video of OUR login or is that the way that the system would look to us AND the Client?

Are we able to choose what they see in the backend and what they're able to do?

Again, the only things I want a client to be able to do is to send a message and to view reports. While I think it's great that we CAN use unlimited keywords being that it's long code and all, I want to be able to set a set number of keywords for each client and even tell it what that keyword is going to be so the control is on my end.

      Thanks =)

      @Maurice

Is there any way for someone to join your system from a mobile phone, or is it just on a website?

      Thanks,

      Russell =)

  • Hi Maurice,

Just to be clear on the answer you have given russellprisco.

Would the person signing up via a mobile device, be sent an autoresponse with the offer attached (coupon or whatever) through your software?

Or would they be sent an autoresponse from our service (aweber, get response...)?, and subsequently sign up to the "system" on the page/email that was sent via aweber?

    Thanks
    • [1] reply
    • The first form would need to be from an Auto responder, however, there is a thank you page that the software automatically forwards to after each successful sign up with the text software. That page can be edited to also suit your needs. Think of an auto responder sign up form and then think of the possibilities here. Go to Post Specials To Your Customers And Facebook Fans By Text and see what I am referring to. Sign up and then click submit then you can return to the page and unsubscribe.

Could you send some details about the SMS platfom?
  • Russell, I appreciate your view of how to build an SMS platform. We take all recommendations seriously and we are NOT limiting ourselves to what we have built. To date we have added at lest 5 features suggested by those who HAVE purchased our product. We do have admin defined packages where the admin limits the number of messages, user chooses the package and they system auto-builds the package and it connects to PayPal.

Todate this platform has cost of 32K, dish out that kind of money and you find that you can't please everyone but you can please some. My point being if I make every single change every one suggested I would never have a platform to sell. By the time it was built and finished, guess what..... mobile devices will be gone and we will be communicating telepathically.

I am not trying to hard nosed at all ... currently we have 3 more modules in development and I feel that is enough to put into a new release. I have built more software than most on this board and I know how it's done, not by stopping the presses and changing direction but thru a planned process.

Limiting keywords is not planned, maybe it will maybe it won't. Again I appreciate everyone's view but two things I do not believe in,,,, paying a monthly rental fee for a piece of software and limiting an end user in the functions of the software in question. I can guarantee you that end users of SMS Platforms like unlimited keywords, after all it their business they are trying to promote.

  • Fair enough Steve =)

Just keep it in the back of your mind somewhere for later since the software does allow for us to charge our clients monthly, and if we can set the number of messages allowed to be sent, it just makes good sense to me that we'd also be able to set the number of keywords as well.

Also, would you be so kind as to shed some light on the modules in your update coming up? Eager to find out more,

    Thanks a bunch
