Adding a video to my sales funnel made me $500 from 1 client!

Hey guys,

Just a bit of an update since my last thread on here. http://www.warriorforum.com/offline-...all-499-a.html

My offline consulting service has been steadily growing. Since the last thread I've made $4,200 in upfront fees and currently receive $150 per month in re-occurring income. This has been in conjunction with my essay editing business, part-time job and completing my final year of university (dual degree with honors). Now I know that amount isn't anything like some of the claims on here of people making $100k deals and pulling $50k a month on auto-pilot, but it's enough for an overseas end of year vacation so I'm happy

After my initial thread I started researching selling techniques and looking at online marketer's sales funnels to see how they were closing deals. I came across one pretty much universal thing, 99% of the real money makers had some form of video in their sales funnel.

After watching countless video sales pitches I decided to make some of my own that I would send to brick and mortar businesses in my city. I spent 1 afternoon creating 5 videos and emailed (cold) those videos to 5 businesses located on my street.

The videos were all less than 5 minutes long and were me talking them through their websites and what they can do to improve the overall aesthetics of their sites in addition to gaining more visitors and turning those visitors into paying customers. I pointed out flaws in the design, coding, keyword density, social media and lead capture items and told them what they could do to fix these issues.

From that initial bunch of 5, I received 1 phone call from a dentist who wanted to set up a meeting. After some to and fro-ing he employed me to update his Google Places listing and conduct monthly maintenance on his site.

The GP update cost him $500 and the monthly site maintenance is just me formatting Google Analytics data into a 1 page .pdf for which I charge $75 p/m.

One thing he was really impressed about was the fact that I was able to explain to him, in real time and in layman terms, exactly how he could stand to benefit from an upgrade of his site and how HE HIMSELF, could do the necessary work.

So for those of you only using one method of client acquisition (cold calling, direct marketing etc) I would highly suggest you implement some form of video communication in your sales funnel. From now on every qualified lead will be getting a personal video made about their site and how I can improve it in order to make their business more profitable. Sure it takes some effort (30 minutes to 1 hour per video) but they pay-off more than covers it. If you really wanted to you could outsource the entire video creation method to make it even cheaper.

I know video isn't a new thing, but I just thought I would let my fellow offline consultants know just how powerful it can be. However, I believe it should be used further down the sales funnel line rather than as a method for client acquisition. In the 5 hours it took me to make those initial 5 videos, I could have cold called maybe 150 businesses if I was being lazy about it. I would suggest cold calling first and using a video to really whet the appetite of a qualified lead.

Have fun and get busy making those videos!

If you guys have any questions about how to create a video or what type of content was used I'll be more than happy to answer.

Thats a good thing!! Most people test techniques once or twice and they give up. The trick is to use it often so you can discover what works, the best punchlines, sales pitch... etc etc.

Fact: I use the video method every now and then, especially when I need to close a deal and use all my weapons. One video always moves the customer to my side, especially if we had a meeting or a previous conversation.

Works pretty well and I don't see many people using it.

      Scott-

This totally works as I've been using it as my main method of getting clients on an individual basis. It's a great way to get in front of busy professional types that prefer to digest these kinds of decisions on their own. Set up a simple Camtasia capture showing what they can do to improve the # of clients that they receive and your conversion will go up. Just make sure that the email explains that you have made the video specifically for them. I'm currently testing -- "Me" in video VS. "Straight screen capture". Has anyone tested this yet?

One other thing that I will do to get in front of more potential clients. Get speaking engagements at industry seminars by making a video showing what can be done..blah blah...and then head on over to Kunaki to create a super-professional looking DVD package to be mailed to the association president with a nice sales letter explaining what you can teach their club members. Getting associations to allow you to speak gives you the opportunity to be in front of 100+ potential clients at a time.

Yeah sure. I basically start off with a PP presentation about how much money a new customer could bring them. I then showed them the local search volume for a few keywords (IE - city dentist or the name of their business). I then go to their site, talk about what could be improved, go into their source code and show them how they have no analytics code.

I then close with my email and number and once again telling them how much money a new customer could bring them.
