NEED EXPERT ADVICE: Client in credit repair / homebuyer help biz

Hey guys ,

I have been getting good results for my local clients so far. Im confident in getting results. BUT.....

Ok here is the deal. I had a guy contact me, he is in the credit repair / helping people become home owners. He is paying for advertising in newspapers and other things but he wants to take it online. He has a website that sucks and isnt ranked for anything. He has been hit hard by the collapse of the real estate market of course, so he cant drop thousands of bucks on this.

I really want to deliver for this guy, as he needs the help and is willing to pay. I am curious if anyone has done anything in this field and has any suggestions. I was thinking of finding some low comp keywords and setting up a pay per click campaign....(I have yet to do any thing involving pay per click yet)...There is no Google maps for the keywords he has. such as credit repair, or home buyer help.

Any suggestions or ideas will be appreciated , thanks guys.

try target google maps optimization locally, you can setup few sites with relevant content targeting local keywords. They usually are less competitive and more targeted, if his business module is meeting people locally, you definitely want to take advantage of the local search techniques. Register his business on google maps for starters and write unique articles targeting local search keywords.

Credit repair is a very regulated industry. You can get into a lot of trouble without proper disclaimers, following state/federal regulations, etc... yes, even if you build a website you can be held accountable.

All offline businesses need our help, it's just a matter if they "want" out help. Don't waste your time with this guy, there is very little room to grow your services. NEXT!

As a former mortgage broker, I would like to throw in my two cents here. If you are trying to help your client get more customers, forget about the website ranking for now. As High Horsepower mentioned, this is a highly regulated business. Make sure the client is legal and then turn your efforts towards joint ventures or marketing to loan officers and real estate agents.

Realtors and loan officers don't get paid when they turn down a customer. There needs to be a relationship built between your client and as many of the realtors and loan officers as possible. Asking for the contact information of turn downs is risky. But you can ask the loan officers and realtors to give their rejected clients your client's contact information. Using email, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube etc your client can build up a nice following of targeted people that can refer business his way. Once the client has a pool of referral sources his business should pick up. And this could be a great way for you to land a new Realtor or Loan officer as a client.

This is by far one of the best pieces of advice I have seen for this market, and believe me I know it as well, many people dont realize about the potential of the "debt" market, any way, unless you are very good at SEO or PPC I will suggest you to look for another approach, my best shots in these industry were shot via PPV and craigslist, but the advice given for uncle randy is PURE GOLD.

Like horsepower said, move on. I work in a similar industry and it's so competitive. Even locally. You have big corps coming in and ranking for "small town credit repair". Even worse, their competitors see what they are doing and copy. you are now going up against some heavy hitters for a local campaign. I would say that this industry is in the top 5 most competitive niches. It's going to cost money.

uncle randy 71 gave you the goods. I've worked with a couple of credit repair guys in the past when it wasn't nearly as competitive, and I wouldn't even try to do anything online for them now that is results-based. Referrals is where it's at in sooooo many businesses and so many of them have no clue how to work them.
