IT'S REALLY WORKING!!!

Hey guys and gals! Just had to post about my week so far!!! It's been full of major ups and downs, but it's been so awesome!

I started cold calling back in March based on what I read in the Newbies thread, started by the awesom-est offliner ever - John Durham. This guy knows his stuff and he is generous enough to share it with anyone that truly wants to make a *go* of it!

I haven't been as consistent as I would like - life with five fabulous kiddos and one amazing husband just springs up stuff here and there!

but, we ran up against some major financial issues. it was a make-it-or-break it time for us. so we hit it mega-hard - with john encouraging us all the way (sometimes, dragging our sorry carcasses!!) my husband took the kids - ALL FIVE OF THEM!! - out to the park, to the museum, to the park again - anywhere so that I could have some quiet time to make calls.

side note - none of you have any excuses after what my husband did for the last two weeks! i know john has had to do some bend-over-backwards stuff when it comes to making this work along with kids, too.

each day, i thought it was *the* day and i was going to make 2 or 20 sales. and i would come up empty - but i still hit it the next day - i was NOT going to let this thing defeat our amazing family.

it took a few days, but this week in particular, the flood gates have begun to open. i've made a TON of great contacts, i've had business owners calling ME back!!!!! two businesses in one day!!! (that's pretty awesome for a newbie!) i have a meeting set up for tomorrow, i have two businesses in my same line of work that are ready to send customers my way for their own varying reasons.

woohoo!

DO NOT GIVE UP!

if you have not gotten on that phone - go make a call, go make 200 calls! MAKE something happen!!!

      WOOOOHOOOO! That's my buddy!

You guys have been working so hard and finding ways to just make it happen. I knew the doors were going to burst open for you soon.

The tips you've given me at the telemarketing forum(awesome awesome place) have really gotten me to think more creatively about how to make this business work while taken care of my amazing son.

IF you can do this with 5 kids and a spouse I know I can make this work with just 1!

    AWESOME!!!!!!!

I have said this in other posts, but I have twins on the way to an already decent sized family. This ABUNDANCE of love keeps me going for 16+ hours a day regularly.

We have something that, in the right frame of mind, can be one of the best, most motivational tools. LOVE. And a desire to set the highest standard possible for those we share that love with.

    Thank you for this post

    Jen?

    You again?

Are you EVER going to stop succeeding from your kitchen table and proving that people can do anything they want to from wherever they are?

Must you constantly inspire people with your human spirit and take away all the reasons they thought they were failing?

I swear some people, just HAVE to prove you wrong right when you had a good pile of excuses going that made you convinced that the opportunities were all bad and it wasnt your fault... Then they come along with 5 kids and succeed right from their kitchen table with nothing but a fresh self image and determination, right in front of you...? While you were just starting to feel good about your quitter attitude and had all the justifications lined out?

    Sheesh.

Now I have 4 fingers pointing at me because of those darn people who wont quit proving that anyone can succeed if they set their mind to it...

Back to therapy... Sigh.... or maybe "action" and committment? Is that the answer?

Do I have a fear of committment to my positive self image?

    Hmm...

Falks wife... "The excuse taker awayer".

Ps. Yeah I have had to bribe kids with ice cream to stay in the car... and they came in anyway, right in the middle of my appopintment with ice cream all over... and I still made the sale. May have helped actually. lol

But I dont suggest doing that though if avoidable, it was what I had to do to protect them from lack at that moment, and I will always do whatever that requires , even the uncomfortable stuff when neccessary.

Its better to break yourself out of your comfort zone, even with kids...than to have your lanlord do it!

Agreed. So many people make 20 calls and they are done... You have to give yourself a chance to get good at something. lol

"I made 20 calls... I guess it doesnt work".

Man , I'll tell you, it would take alot more than that to deter me from the dream that I say is so important to me.

Some things are worth working through the hard parts, its gonna be that way in ALL business.

The other choices are a J-O-B... or letting your family be in lack, but if you are going to be in business you have to get thick skinned and say "I dont care if it takes 1000 calls for me to make the 2k I need for rent... The end result is what you have your eyes focued on, not the effort it takes to get to it.

When you start counting your weffort instead of your results, thats a recipe for trouble.

Just call till you get the prize. That will settle it.

So happy for you! Cold Calling is NOT for everyone. If you ever need an ear (or shoulder depending on your day), hit me up! I've been doing it for years and love giving advice to help new people out.

I've heard that John is a goldmine of information and I'm sure he's helped you tremendously, but it never hurts to have more than one friend in the same business you are in!

    Good luck and keep dialing

Cold calling is the act of phoning small business owners to inquire what web marketing services they may need such as web design, mobile marketing, SEO... and introducing your services to them.

Cold calling in short is THE SINGLE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY YOU CAN ACHIEVE PREDICTABLE CONSISTENT SALES FOR YOUR OFFLINE BUSINESS!

I cant respond on the other thread because I have reached my max posts on it , but its so thrilling to see all the good things happening in the Newbies-Zero HTML thread. I know Jen wont mind me saying it here... You guys are awesome. I have been reading your stories and they are beautiful. Thank you for helping me feel encouraged in what I do and may your success be bountiful and continue to grow.

Keep your eyes on the prize...even if you are facing an empty plate in front of you...the empty food plate can be there...but "YOU" can be far away and bring yourself to another state of being...of having your eyes on where you want to be...While others say you should be hungry.... you can be passionate, and not even know hunger, even as there is an empty plate in front of you...You can be in another place creating your dreams.... and as Jen, you will see them manifest into reality when you can dis associate with what "is" and become totally associated with the vision in your mind. You be full when others say you should be empty... And I promise you will all my heart "Fullness will manifest".

Wow John looks like you have done it again. John "The life Saver" Durham should be you new name .

All of my clients are on annual rebilling. Once you get the taste of the good life you don't stop chasing.

So big thanks goes out to John.

Wow Mattie! Thats Amazing! There are trends and there are timeless principles.

Whether its mobile , or SEO or Webdesign, or Insurance, or even Construction... Selling is based on very simple principles that transcend all of those different products... Basically you just take everything that Og Mandino says, and you apply it to whatever product you are selling.

Learning "selling" (not "sales", which is used too loosely) enables you to outlast every trend. If you learn to prospect effectively, you will never be slave to another man again. Selling is an ACT, sales is a vague name for a career option.

Thank you Mattie, and Jen, for making my work worthwhile. Here's what I have to say about you Mattie... this is you...In the words of Og... this is what you remind me of, or what your post brings to memory. I hope you see yourself in this picture too and your heart fills with pride:

"The career I have chosen is laiden with opportunity... yet it is also fraught with heart break and dispair. The bodies of those who have come before me and failed, were they piled atop one another, would cast its shadow down upon all the pyramids of the earth. But I will not fail as the others, for in my hands I hold the charts that will guide me through perilous waters, to shores which yesterday seemed only but a dream... until even apples made of gold will seem only as my just reward...". - Og Mandino

Congrats for reaching the other shore my friend, I can envision your journey, and see your determined eyes on the prize that caused you to prevail and reach the other side.

I bow to you. Much honor for your accomplishment. And thanks for the kind words.
