What Do You Bring To Your Appointments?

I'm new to offline marketing and am wondering what you all bring to your first appointment with a client. Do you use software, laptops, powerpoint, etc or is pen and paper all you use?

I recently picked up an Ipad2 so I use that, however before I'd just take a notepad + pen, but it's up to you... a client isn't going to choose whether or not to go with you based on your resources you have, but the results you can get so I show them some testimonials on the Ipad if they ask about previous things I have done

    Just an empty notepad!!

You are going there to find out if they have enough of a problem to use a company / person like you.

Whatever you take will distract from the conversation and will get you talking about what you do, rather than what they need.

Ask great questions, take great notes, sell the solution they need based on the pain they need fixing.

Chris has hit the nail on the head - just a pen & paper and listen.

Everything you mentioned and some more - it depends.

Some people want to see our portfolio/testimonials - hence the laptop - while others know our work and I just use my MP3 recorder, pen and paper to check topics along the conversation and to fill in the blanks of the questionnaire - when used.

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

I take a notebook, pen and my iPhone. Like Chris said don't add distractions. It seems 90% of my appointments have enough distractions without me adding one.

So basically, I think what everyone is saying is keeping it simple works. If i just bring a pen and paper it really will not matter to the client.

        Thanks Everybody.

A diary, a pen, an inquisitive mind and a lot of confidence.

Ah yeah, I forgot about the confidence. That's a big part too. Not that horrible arrogant confidence, just the knowing that you can help them to make more sales and get paid well to do that.
