How to Optimize Offline Sites For Maximum Cash Value

If you are just starting out, you may feel you need an easy strategy to attract paying clients.

When you apply the following techniques you will have:
  • instant proof that you can deliver
  • a highly valuable service that's easy to sell
  • the confidence to actually make money with it

Here is the big trick: instead of just talking, you will show them what you can do. With this technique, you will come to them with actual leads. That's right.

So your goal is to start collecting leads, before you contact clients.

Who can refuse this offer? Other guys come with promises, you come with people ready to buy.

This stuff work! How do I know? Because I used this for my offline business - a dance school. I got leads every single day because of it.

If you want to sell to offline clients you have to first understand their mindset. Without understanding the mindset, you will be rejected right out of the gate.

On the other hand, once you know what they want to hear, selling to them becomes easy as pie.

Here is what offline clients want:

They want new leads/customers. That's it. So don't waste too much time explaining technical stuff.

This technique gives them exactly that. Here is what I did.

Now, when I build the site for my offline dance school, I knew that it had to generate leads without me having to look after it.

So, I did some SEO, and set up a Google Places account. (in those days, there were few people doing Places)

The I optimized my home page for lead generation:

1. Below the head banner I put a headline that promised the results to my market's most pressing question.

2. I put a link to the lead generation page. (very important)

3. SOCIAL PROOF! In the side bar I had logos of the local companies I had done events with.

I was also featured in the local paper, so that helped.

Very important!

4. In the sales copy I teased them into finding out more. Then I linked to a contact form.

I had new leads everyday!

For example:

For a chiropractor's site your headline could be "Here is how you can beat your back pain, starting today! Discover the secret <-- [link to sales page].

Your sales page copy should now tease them into finding out more.

You can easily get a domain, rank it, and start collecting leads. Once you have 5 to 10 a week, you can approach clients. Say: "Every week I get emails from people asking for your services. Each is worth $500/$1000/$2000 (or whatever). You can get access to them for less than $1400. Here is how."

After they agree to meet with you: Let them know that you expect the number of leads to increase once you include their testimonials. (Testimonials are your "secret weapon". Virtually no-one knows how to use them.)

Why should you do this? Let's face it: offline businesses have been burnt. You have to stand out from the pack.

If you believe you can do it for them, then the above technique should be no problem, at all.

OK, I'm off to make some cash. Leave your questions and comments. I will answer when I'm back, in the evening.

Great story. I wonder if you could fill in a few blanks for me.

      1. The site you set up for your seo / lead gen services or was is an actual lead gen site for a potential client (chiro in your example)?

      2. If it was a lead get site, how did you set up Google Places? Which address did you use?

      3. I imagine in some niches (medical, financial) you should have a disclaimer regarding your qualifications to dispense advice related to a particular problem. And even that may not be enough to protect your butt. What are your thoughts on that?

        1. I used this for my own businesses. Since it worked so well, I decided to start using it to get other people.

This includes dance classes, and music video production.

At the moment, I'm working on sites in the chiro, dog training, and weight loss markets.

        2. I used the address of where my dance school office was located.

        3. Yeah, I have thought of it, but not really bothered!

I try to write "neutral" content, without giving specific advice.

However, it might be a dangerous ground, to be honest.

What your'e outlining is good proposition and I've seen it talked about before. Have you attempted this recently?

It has a lot going for it, as long as you can get the leads or the site sold.

great post and awesome way for people who are just getting started to break into the offline field. Conversions will be much higher when you approach with leads already in your hand! They will have no choice but to sign, if not they are literally watching money walk away!

Great marketing strategy. You just have to be prepared to put in the time and effort to actually DO IT.

As long as you pick a business/profession with a high customer value, this strategy should be a no-brainer for making sales!

      Kudos to AdwordsMogul!

Personally, my goal is to offer high priced marketing consultations, and premium copyrighting services. So, this is my foot in the door.

I'm rolling out a huge campaign to dominate my chosen cities - I will posting updates as things develop.

However, the best way for a beginner would be to sell the site. SEO rankings are not predictable. A change in Google's algorithm could affect things at any moment.

If you take the client on recurring payment basis, there has to be an understanding that the site is being sold as is.

On average, how long has it taken you to rank and start getting leads?

As I said above, I used this to promote my own businesses. I'm using this to rank for potential new clients.

Well, it really depends. For one of my sites, I got my first phone call in less than 3 week. At that time, I had a business partner who was really good with SEO.

With Google places, it was like a day or two - however in those days it wasn't as saturated as it is now.

What are you giving the leads you get while you wait to have an actual service provider in place to contact them?

      That's the hard bit...

The choice is yours. I know some people forward leads before contacting the clients.

Personally, I ain't giving them nothing. (Hey, I never said I was an angel )

However, I think I will set up an autoresponder and forward these people to a provider.
