Many of us here are good people. You can see many threads with offline Warriors asking questions, wanting to know how to provide real value.
You might have been led to falsely believe, that the amount of value you create will lead to earnings proportional to that.
You may also believe that clients will surely appreciate your expertise. Here it the thing.
That's only half of the equation!
Because, believe it or not, many business owners will gladly scam you, and use you. People don't put that in their WSOs, because the harsh reality may bring down sales.
Here is what happened: somehow, I attracted a gready toad/client who was spending at least $110,000 a year, just on PPC.
They were selling bathroom equipment, with representatives all over the US. Basically, they want people to come into their offline show-rooms.
At that time, they had an emergency, Google would shut down their account, if they didn't act quickly.
They didn't know what to do, I did.
Stupidly, I said to myself "Let me help these guys out, it's an emergency, after all". So I didn't ask for cash upfront. They said their old "Adwords guy" left them, so if I could sort this problem, they would gladly become clients.
Lesson: anytime a client says "we have a lot of projects coming up" - that's a RED FLAG!!!
Since I'm in the UK, I had to stay up half the night to sort them out. Then, we spoke on Skype, to discuss the rest. I even sent them an action plan!
Now, their campaign was badly mismanaged, I could easily improve their results.
Well, after we discussed the fee, they said "Why don't we try you out for a month first? We want to be sure you can really create results."
WHAAAAAAAT! I just saved you from losing your account! Plus, I optimized your account to a more reasonable level!
To cut the long story short, I had to walk away. Even though the pay was promising.
You have to learn how to protect yourself. Business is a jungle, not a playground.
I really recommend Robert Ringer's "To Be Or Not To Be Intimidated". You will learn a lot about how to sell yourself, and position yourself the right way.
