selling mobile and an ecommerce question

I've been inspired by a number of warrior threads discussing selling mobile websites. I bought a few wso's and have templates to use so I went out to do some prospecting with sample sites. I even made a sale on one until the client asked if they could set up an ecommerce system on their mobile site.

I've been looking for a solution but have hit dead ends thus far.

I'm thinking that i should offer a mobilized version of their website as a leader and a full blown ecommerce version as a upsell. I hate that I over think every thing that I do but I just want to offer clients the best solutions to help them make more money and obviously making it easy to order from a mobile device would do that. I need to hit the road and make some sales this week but I am paralyzed with doubt over this.

I can sell anything that I believe in but I feel that I am missing parts of the mobile puzzle here... can anyone point me in the right direction?

    you're already halfway there

    The critical point is your belief in yourself that you can sell anything. some parts you might just have to find out as you progress along. Not all clients are the same even if they're on the same platform of niches. I like your approach of offering them the mobile website and upsell for a bigger package.

    I use an opt-in page and offer clients a personalized PDF report that shows them why they're not in the first page of Google, based on the keywords and other details they enter.

    I have been looking at big ecommerce which seems like it will do the trick with good mobile interface. Have a look at my test store on your mobile and tell me what you think.

    @ Quentin - Thanks for sharing that the BC info, It looks really slick on my phone a nice clean interface. I see your sample site has not been customized at all, do you know if it can be?

    I have a client that I created a facebook page for will be interested in this as a way to make sales directly from facebook so a new opportunity there too.

        Thanks a pretty interesting alternative, thanks for sharing that Netbiznewbie.

        I went through the FAQs to learn more and it must be my 50 something brain but I can't figure out why one would want to download an application to shop? is it faster? but would the end user hesitate OR are all m-ecommerce sites applications?

      I have to recommend Ecwid also, I have used this on several sites,, its free up to 100 items and also has advanced features if you want to pay for them.

      It has real time shipping and many payment gateways, I don't work for them or associated at all,, just a satisfied user.

        We have a mobile marketing platform. M-Commerce solutions are difficult as they are more suseptable to fraud for the business offering the solution.

        Some merchant services companies are willing to take the risk to extend their service offerings and get more customers. paypal is one of those companies.

        Companies like mobicart and a couple others focus their attention of APPS. because apps are wayyy more secure than mobile sites (for the merchant services company, NOT the customer).

        We suggest to our customers that they build mobile websites, and work with paypal mobile checkout to process payment. Its easy. Just copy paste the code that paypal provides for their buy now buttons for each product and service.

        It works great with our platform.

    If you want to create a good online shop which is also available on mobile devices you should use Magento. There are plugins for Magento which turn you shop into a mobile-shop.

    I have to agree with bonn on using a third party payment solution with mobile sites in conjunction with content system of some sort. big commerce and most of the big online sites are great if you want to pay a monthly fee, magento imo is a resource hog, although a very good cart but requires host optimization to work fast and efficiently.

    For open source my favorite is opencart, its fast and efficient but no mobile plugins yet to speak of... ( no affiliation) and the second favorite of course would be ecwid which does have mobile capabilities
