Why does my Google places disappear from Places?

I have a website that I have been doing a lot of work on and for some reason it keeps appearing in Google Places and then disappearing within 3-5 days. So it might be in the Google places first page results for 3-5 days and then it will move back to the organic ranking on the first page. My client wants it to stay in the places location on the first page.

How to I keep the places rankings on the first page. For some reason it keeps disappearing and reverting back in the organic location. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I have already optimized the places account and built a ton of citations and backlinks. I have great organic rankings, but do not want the website in the organic. I need it in the Google places.

I had the same EXACT thing happen for my client. I did SEO for the site (more and better than the competition for sure) ...... I optimized the places listing WAY better than any of the competition! ..... The website ended up ranked on the first page. Then after a week or so. The listing jumped to the D spot on google places for 2 keywords. (not to mention they already had more reviews than all the competition before i did anything)

THEN...... all of a sudden It disappeard from the map, but was ranked organically under it on the first page.

I have asked a few people, and they are telling me to just wait and see what happens.

Half the listings on the map, are unclaimed! .... no reviews... anything..... How can my client NOT be ranked? ..... everyone is saying just wait, there is a glitch in google places.... so just wait.......

Just wanted to let you know..... i feel your pain.....

same here but I found that the keyword here is "a lot of work" - when I've made a lot of changes all at once the place page gets bounced. I'm thinking that G doesn't trust what it sees. I've learned that if I make changes in stages, though it may take longer and require patience, I get better results faster.

I said this before in another thread, really questioning my sanity doing Place pages and think I may start to outsource, offers with proof welcome.

hdoyle is right, going slow with the changes seem to be the best way. Just be patient. I've been getting bounced around, reviews disappearing and reappearing a few days later. I have made significant changes trying to go from page 6 to page 1. Finally after about three months of tweaking and changing I made it to the first page, bounced around for a few weeks, looks like I may stay on the first page now but who knows! I'm wanting to add some videos but right now I think I'll wait and see what happens in the next few weeks with my place page.

The best thing to do with Google Places is delete it and get ranked organically above them!

Does the SERP change? Is it only your Place page that is getting un-merged by your website, or your competitors' ones too?
