UK Propspect Lists - Advice/Help Needed from other Brits

Hey guys,

Any UKers out there that have experience in getting good leads \ prospect lists?

I'm based in Scotland and have been using lead prospectors from Odesk most recently and the data is very hit or miss.

I'm now considering investing a bit of money in a list from somewhere like selectabase.co.uk

It is very expensive so I would rather not have to do this, so if there are any other options I'd love to hear about them.

Cheers

*Edit: These leads are for selling web design and SEO services.

Market Location will give you a clean list of phone numbers with the Decision Makers name for £100 per 1000 as a one time usage or £180 per 1000 for a 12 month licence.

They have a database of 2.4 million businesses and they contact them on a continual basis to make sure the data is accurate.

You wont get better than that.

Is that too much money? It's 10p per name or 18p on the 12 month so I don't think so.

What is your SEO profit from 1 sale?

Stick a .com after the name.

          They are a UK company.

Thanks Dan, have you used these guys personally\Can you vouch for the quality?

The price looks great, but I have already fallen for a lower cost company who gave me a bunch of leads that were years out of date.

Have you thought about creating a number of sub sites to generate leads. I have been doing this for lead generation with WP Mage Monster. I can create about 10 sites in a evening with WP Mage and Optin Mage, The software is going on sale today for a couple days. I can highly recommend it. Have a look wpmagemonsterreviews

There are always people willing to do this type of work. You pay the phone bill and they get a commission for each client they get you an appointment with, or something to that effect.

If not, pay them per appointment booked or per lead that they provide details of ie. Name, Designation etc.

I assume though you are wanting lists with all these details pre populated?

How about setting up a squeeze page offering a free guide, then putting some ads in your local paper sending people to that page or even create a mini Facebook Campaign for your area. You'd be surprised at the cheap clicks you can get...
Thanks for the suggestions but I really just want to get on the phone and speak to people, and to do that, I need a good list

I have been there and bought the lists, called up and requested to speak to the 'business owner' having been provided his name. What makes you think this is easier? I understand having name to ask for does help, but most telephonists still ask who is calling etc.

      Just give it a go!
      Absolutely!

In 12 years I haven't come across a list which didn't have a percentage of error.

Your best option if you want to speak to someone is to get on the phone and build your own list.

Finding a list of businesses in your local (or any) area online is easy - especially if you target by profession/industry - and it gives you a chance to check out their existing website (assuming they have one).

It only takes a few moments.

Then just start calling - validate and collect contact names as you go.

Yeah, the thing is, I'm doing 300 calls before lunch time most days, with great success

I feel like you two guys have kinda missed the point that, if I want to get on the phone and make calls, I kinda need a list of business with their telephone number...

The list of leads I was using got to the point where I was dialling more than 50% wrong numbers and never speaking to decision makers. I put that down to the fact that I had a team of data gatherers from Odesk and they were using some very out of date directories as well as better ones like Yell.

So the reason for my post, was that I was looking for some advice from fellow UK warriors to get a better list to call, in an affordable way. This has been provided and I'm back in business, so thanks to those who helped.

I was never really too fussed about having the contact names, as I have no problem introducing myself and asking to speak to the person who would deal with that side of things for their business. That being said, the list I got does have the contact name there, and it is a definite bonus.

I am from the UK and own a call centre here in the Philippines.

I utilise it to cold call and to call my existing web customers.

It works VERY well. Offline sales are WAY up on the online figures... which were good anyway.

I recommend going that route... you can reach alot of people VERY quickly. It is incredibly cost efficient too!

    Regards

    Russell
p.s we can include the required list for most b2b / b2c requirements

What are you saying here? Are you recommending that I use overseas call centres to call local business?
