I havent used so i cant really say, but i have ran mobile AD campaigns and ill tell you now they do work and they do convert if you have a solid marketing strategy.

but can you elaborate some more?
do you mean offering services to local companies or running campaigns yourself?

Mobile marketing is THE best form of communication there is out there today.

I can't post links on here to our stats page where customers demonstrate their ROI from their SMS campaigns.

Our customers have enjoyed a ROI of 28% right the way up to 120%! Which I think is unbeatable!

Totally depends on what you are trying to achieve and your audience I guess.

A couple of interesting M-Commerce stats that may be of interest and help with MWP promotion...
    · 1 in 3 people in the UK have accessed mobile internet in the last month
    · Mobile online payments through PayPal surged by 650% in 2009
    · Ebay recorded sales of £320m through mobile in 2009
    · The amount of users who have accessed websites directly via mobile has more than doubled from 2009 to 2010
    · The uptake of unlimited data plans has quadrupled over the past 2 years allowing for affordable access to the internet through mobiles.

It is possible especially when you try to market products in your own community or area. Since we all know that text messaging is now the best form of communication and some are really using text messages for their marketing. It was in their point of view that not all the time, people have access to the internet that they can avail with these online marketing. We have to integrate any technologies available at present to market our product and services to our prospected clients. But there are limitations to the usage of text messages for your marketing since the text character in the text messages are limited in space and numbers, so you might want to limit what you will try to promote in that limited space of your text messages.

But that is kind of the beauty of SMS, delivering an easy to read an straight to the point message directly into the palms of your customers hands.

Txtlocal also provide mobile optimized websites too, so if you happened to want to convey more than 160 characters then you can do so by sending an SMS with a link to your mobile webpage/site.

In fact, using our control panel you can create pages for free. Let me know if you would like an account and I will give you a promotional code to use on signing up.

Texting ROI is like anything else, it depends how you use it. ROI can be terrific with timely text messages, but you still have to send out offers that people will act on and redeem. Lame offers in any marketing medium will not be effective. The first good offer should be the one that you use to get people to opt in to the mobile list.

Once you get a good list going, then you can plan how you want to maximize the return on the list. Its not unlike an email list, but you have to remember that you are sending messages to cell phones, and people are much more guarded about their cell phones than they are a throw away email address that they never check.

Be sure you always include a way for them to unsubscribe as well, just like email messages. I simply include: Reply STOP to unsubscribe at the end of all outgoing messages.

Would you share some good / not so good examples?

Its less effective because in everyones busy schedule there no time to check messages so the users pay a very little attention to it.

Who says people don't read SMS? Is it email they will open? Without being told, you will know that over 95% of SMS sent are read within 5 minutes.

There has never been more effective marketing technique than SMS. I have been in the business of mobile marketing since the year 2007 and the testimonial is only growing. I am very happy to have known this fact early enough.

I don't know about buying lists but if you can get them to opt in it is far better than email marketing. One thing I have been experimenting with is offering a free trial for text marketing, and they only way they can get started is to text me.

Then I can follow up at will, and at the same time demonstrate how it works.

Has anyone used text180? Their prices seem pretty low, but when I checked with them they don't yet have metropcs which is a big company here. However, they said they are negotiating with them and it should be coming through.

I also am looking for something that is inexpensive and may have a free trial (they don't have a free trial but they do have a 9.97 plan). My understanding is that sms is better than stmp for messages that may be related to that day or a 48 hour period.

I think you can avoid over bombarding subscribers with text messages by only sending out 1 client offer every day. As a result that keeps the open rate up and fewer people unsubscribe.

Yogini, we recommend that you take a look at Trumpia mobile marketing. You'll find that we support major carriers including MetroPCS and Txt180, not to mention, we also have a very sophisticated feature set in comparison to other companies you are looking at.

I haven't used SMS marketing. I think it is kind of a stretch really, and too intrusive. Somebody has my number on a SMS list, and I hate it. They are super annoying. So I probably wouldn't use it.

I see mobile text marketing fading away, as soon as end of this year while the Mobile App Market takes over. What is less intrusive.

    1. Text message to your phone, you think its a friend, then you see its a marketing message.
    or
    2. Push notification to your iPhone or Android, from a App you chose to download and you have control to turn off notifications when you like. You can get no notifications and just log into the App to get a deal.

Would you prefer 1 or 2?
