Review Site Scrapper?

Is anyone aware of a review site scrapper?

One that for example, searches for businesses via niche/keyword, ie. dentists, motels, buffets, auto repair, etc. and reports back the number of reviews and average ratings for sites like Yelp, MerchantCircle, Judy's Book, InsiderPages, SuperPages, etc., etc.?

      Evie,

The two I would suggest you take a look at will give you the information you're looking for:

      1. Local Lead Maximizer:
Get the Local Lead Maximizer Pro Software Today | Local Lead Maximizer

      2. Localizer Lead Tool:
Special Video « Localizer Leads Tool

Local Lead Maximizer, if memory serves me correctly, is designed for PC and will run on the MAC O/S but will require some type of emulator.

The cost is $37 dollars...(Sales Page says $47, but when you try to leave the page, you get the option of getting $10 dollars off!)

On the other hand, Localizer Lead Tool runs on the Adobe Air platform, so I think that makes it more 'universal'...but it costs $97 dollars. It still gives you the same information as LLM does, but in not so many windows!

Take a minute to review each video and see the many benefits each one brings to the table and then figure out if one of them will work for your business!

There's other apps on the market that will give you what you want as well, but their pricing begins at about $297 (MapPI) and goes up to $995 (Power Leads Pro)

      Hope that helps?

Love to buy this Localizer Leads Tool. Anyone know where I can get it on sale. I think $97- was the cheapest I've seen yet.

        Appreciate it!

Do you know how much it is after their free trial?

I think I just found their prices and it starts with $700.

if you watch this video here:

and forward to about the 3:00 minute mark, you'll see the user/creator click on the 2nd tab along the top called "Local Lead Maximizer" and then right below that, you'll see 3 more tabs labeled:

      Places / Categories / Reviews
Check the image below for clarification:

Thus, it will return whatever reviews are listed, as well as the necessary categories (aka 'keywords') used for reference.
NOTE: I'll admit I don't recall the video on the main sales page showing this or not...was merely going by what I had remembered seeing!

Does it show average ratings? How many stars?

I think that's what Evie is asking about. If you have average ratings displayed, you can go directly to those that have less than perfect rating and see what's going on. It saves time. No need to open every listing.

          Thomas,

In that regard...pulling in the # of "average stars/ratings", I wouldn't know, as I don't own the software as of yet. Was only going by what I noticed in the video and apparently it doesn't...it just pulls in the # of reviews.

That being said, I've gone back and re-viewed the video for the other app I mentioned earlier, being "Localizer Leads Tool" ($97) and from I see, that app DOES appear to pull in "# of Ratings", so that looks promising. So, if that's really that important to know, then this appears to the best 'bang for the buck' option I can find.

I did find a free one..but alas, it does NOT give any results to their Google places listing being verified or not! Just basic 'name', 'phone' and "address"...

I'll keep looking and if I find anything, I'll update this thread!

    Thanks!

With the changes Google has made to Places and 3rd party review sites, our reputation management lead generation system is slightly broken, as we were simply scrapping GP and finding all the businesses in a particular niche with less than 3 stars, generating an autogenerated screen capture of their GP listing showing the less than stellar rating, along with the negative comment snippets GP displayed, then sent an email.

It was working great before the changes and we were writing a ton of new rep. man. business.

    Google really sucks sometimes!

    Talk about a moving target.

Also, in a related "scrapper" topic, we also are either going to create our own or find a scrapper to pull all of the Groupon and LivingSocial deals, that we can organize by geography, niche, number sold, etc., etc.

I am sure you get the idea.

We have a unique offer that is converting at over 80% to merchants with featured deals. We just need to contact BEFORE the deal is over.

Google is making major changes on Places every few months. One of the main reasons is their will to protect the businesses as well as possible from cold calling/mailing as the one you mention. A typical restaurant in a metropolitan area gets 5 to 50 cold calls per week, and 100 to 1000 unwanted/unauthorized emails from people selling them products/services. Google does not want that and as far as I am concerned they will keep fighting against the scraping of the Places pages.

This does not have anything to do with Google protecting businesses from cold calling/direct mail and everything to do with the controversial practice of using reviews from other sites in its Google Places, drawing complaints from Yelp, Citysearch and others that Google was building its competing local reviews product on the backs of their businesses.

Antitrust attorney Gary Reback, is working with several companies that have raised competitive concerns about Google Places and their practices.

Additionally, if Google was so concerned with protecting businesses from cold calling/direct mail, why do they offer a Google Places API?

      Thanks!

My hubby (works for Google and their rules are way out there) has recommended someone he went to college with to create a custom application for me.

I have to write a user story and a detailed walk-through of every click.

      Oh fun!

What the heck did I get into now.

And you'll do fine with writing the use case, I'm sure.

P.S. I'll be "shadowing" you on this board, to pick up whatever you drop of that 80% conversion rate.

Interesting thread, and glad to find out about Google Places scraping software since I'm now in the market for new software. Just last night, while using my Yellow Pages scraping software, I was hit by a bot that disabled it. Bummer. I'd love to know a way to remove the bot if anyone else has had the same problem.

I created and use the Local Lead Maximizer.

It saves me tons of time looking for unverified place pages.

I originally added the Review Sites finder so that people who use the software to work with clients can get quick results for their clients by getting reviews on the same sites that Google is already showing in their results.

But Google stopped showing those results last week!

So we found 4 ways to find the review sites that are showing for your business category in Google.

We added that video to the download page of the software to make due for the lack of review sites showing in the software.

Also wanted to add that the Local Lead Maximizer runs off of the Air platform so it works on PC and on Mac. And it's cheaper than other tools!

      Hi Thomas:

The answer to your question is: "I'm in the exploratory process of..."

In the meantime, I have found what appears to be to worthy options to further explore:
      1. Fiverr Gig: I will do Web Scraping and provide you in excel for $5
      padhu | padhu's profile page on Fiverr.com |
      Rated 97% | 2 days EST. DELIVERY | 100% GIG RATING |
Do you need to scrape a website and need to store information into an excel file? This is the exact gig for you. I will scrape websites and provide you in excel or csv format, as quick as you can't imagine. Message Me to discuss more about your needs and requirement.

      2. A1 Website Scraper Software - $39
Website Scraper - Scrape Websites and Extract Data |
Scrape websites to extract data for use in web services and similar. Mix and mash scraped website data to create new and innovative mashup website services or data analysis tools. Filter which URLs to scrape data from and generate CSV files ready to be imported anywhere, e.g. SQL databases.

      .
I've looked at a number of HDD resident scrapers recently. The above looks attractive, however I have not tested it yet nor the Fiverr gig above... yet.

Will be happy to get back with results when they are in hand.

      Hope this proves helpful,

      Alan

Do notice that A1 Website Scraper requires you know regular expressions. (If you don't know regular expressions, you will probably want to use a visual scraper instead.)

A1WS does come with currently 4 built-in demos showing both demo input, regular expressions, how to define in which CSV columns extracted data is put and finally demo CSV output.

There's also a getting started tutorial (video coming soon)

Uhm , you asked for a refund 4 months after you purchased it, should I link a screenshot of purchase date with your request date Alan? Now with a 7 day refund policy and saying it was a few days past, kinda shoots down your credibility.
(actually you purchased March 2011 and asked for a refund in August 2011 AKA - 5 months)

A1WS is general data extraction tool which is quite different from yours in just about every aspect. It is not even aimed at marketers/SEO... And even if I some day implement a generalized visual scraping mechanism, it will still not be related to your kind of product.

Your post seems kinda wack given I posted a clarification (as followup on someone else's posting) that my product is not a visual scraper and thus not appropriate unless one already knows regular expressions

I just saw my product mention and wanted to clarify its purpose. (And actually letting people know that if they are looking for visual scrapers or pure web marketing related scrapers that A1WS do not fit into those categories) I have no interest in this thread beyond that.
