Anyone know of a good software or good method for finding the email addresses of prospects?

Hi. I'd appreciate any help I can get on finding the email address for offline prospects. The methods I'm using are very time consuming.

In case someone asks my method is to look for it in citations, Places, websites, etc.

Our Chamber of Commerce has physical and email addresses of all member businesses. It's a good place to start.

You might want to check out Power Leads Pro (no aff. link)

Power Leads Pro | Lead Generation Software | Lead Generation Tools

You can use different plugins to search on Google Maps, YP, Manta and more. For Google Places it gives you all the results from Google and finds additional information for you from the prospect's website (for instance email address). And it also includes if the Google Places listing has been claimed by the owner and how many citations the listing has.

There's more info on the website.

No, no, no. You can't get local clients by spamming them. That doesn't work.

I agree with Site Smarty, and you can't use the Chamber of Commerce mailing list to contact unless you go one by one and even then they will want to know you are a member of the Chamber - which if you are not may create a backlash... Chambers are very protective.

You could offer to speak at the Chamber - that is always good - I had to sponsor a lunch once $250.00 to do so and it was great exposure.

I have found making relationships with business coaches to be a great way of getting bulk referrals, and other website developers that are too busy or don't want to do it anymore - I picked up many new clients this week just that way.

You are better off calling them personally and speaking with them about anything you have to offer. That's not illegal like emailing them without their written consent is. It's also alot more effective in the long run. If you have a good offer for them, most will actually listen to it on the phone. If you have a good offer for them in an email, most will not even read it.

Sorry but you don't know what your talking about.

You can email any business without consent as long as you follow the ICAN rules. Please make sure your statements are fact before dishing out advice.

Now, I do agree that just picking up the phone is better then email and walking in personally is better then any other method around. My opinion.

So you are saying harvesting email addresses from companies and sending them an email can be done without an opt-in from them?

If so, please enlighten us all on just how to do this, under ICAN guidelines...

As long as you clearly state the purpose of your message, along with your contact details (address, phone, etc) you are operating under the CAN guidelines. Here is a sample "disclaimer" that we like to include on any unsolicited messages that we sent out, and will eliminate any risk:

"This is an advertisement and a promotional mail strictly on the guidelines of CAN-SPAM act of 2003. We have clearly mentioned the source mail-id of this mail, also clearly mentioned the subject lines and they are in no way misleading in any form. We have found your mail address through our own efforts on the web search and not through any illegal way.If you find this mail unsolicited, please reply with "Remove" in the subject line and we will take care that you do not receive any further promotional mail."

We have been doing email marketing for several years, and have never had any issues when using this statement in the footer of each outgoing email.
