How would you suggest to use a list of people who opted in for local daily deals. How would you break it down per client and what sms company would be the best, where i can schedule messages and maybe divide them into groups?

Nobody has a list of 2k mobile opt ins...Lol...wish I had that problem...

But yea...I have been wondering that to because I have been thinking about doing the daily deal through SMS strategy as well...I am just waiting for the colleges to start back up...but I think it could also work for non-college opt ins as well...

Text180 seems to be a good/reliable/cheap SMS provider...

I have thought about putting ads in the newspaper to get people to opt in for text message daily deals...as well as passing out flyers on cars, malls, ect.

I would use Trumpia because they have an autoresponder. You could set up all your text messages well in advance. they also have rollover text credits, which is a bonus.

First of all you need some idea of the demographics of your audience so you have a better idea of what businesses will work best with your list. Where did these people join from? What age group are they? What area do they live in?

I would then approach some businesses and offer to do a free campaign for the first few. Once you get some good results for those clients you can then approach others. Word of mouth will also start to kick in so your list continues to get bigger and also businesses start approaching you.

Glad to find a post like this. Tommy ive also been doing a lot of research on text message marketing locally and building essentially a master list. Since we are in two different parts of the country, it would be nice if you wanted to bounce ideas back and fourth. I have been seriously researching this for the last 2-3 months and getting ready to put my plan into action and would be nice to bounce ideas with someone. Send me a PM if your interested.

    Thanks

    Hey WillR great point
"First of all you need some idea of the demographics of your audience so you have a better idea of what businesses will work best with your list. Where did these people join from? What age group are they? What area do they live in?"

Is there a way or a txt company that can put optins into a specific category such as italian food, movies, etc.
In your opinion do the optins have to be categorised prior to opting in? (meaning marketed to separately)

The best idea would be build a list of people who are interested in say food and wine discounts or shopping discounts then you could approach restaurant and tell them you have 500 food and wine subscribers.

I did this and sent a sms offer for a local restaurant, they had 47 people turn up the same evening. I then got them to collect mobile numbers so he could then market to them again with his own short code. He now pays me $147 per month to manage his account.
