A Google Places Question

Hey you guys I just got a small question. I was wondering if you could list your offline Web business in google places to help get you listed when users search for your type of services since your local to them, wouldn't that be better than trying to get top with your website? Or Would I need to go through the whole process of setting up a legal business establishment in order to do that? Just curious

    Depends,

Google places uses a phone number along with address to verify your listing. So your business will have to have a phone number that is listed. A mobile number will not work either.

I have a quick question for everyone also. When you are doing a google place listing for a client. Do you do all them under one google account? Or make a new account for each client and do you give them access to the account?

Get a gmail email account in the name of their business for instance:

JohnsPizza@gmail.com and use that just for handling their listing. If they ever want to log into their pages account you won't have to give them possible access to anyone else's account

From the Quality guidelines : Google Places Policies - Google Places Help

"Only businesses that make in-person contact with customers qualify for a Google Places listing."

I suppose that explains it all

No, don't do that ever. Here are the reasons:

        1) According to the quality guidelines: "If possible, use an email account under your business domain". That's why I usually ask my clients to provide me emails under their business domain. If they don't have, I ask them to create a new Gmail.

        2) If you have multiple listings of different clients under the same account, and only ONE gets suspended - all will.

        3) As thehypnoguy said, if your client wants to check something, or if they want to get their listing back, you have to provide them access to the account.

Blillard, I have created my own services listing under Google Places without any issues. The number doesn't have to be a business number either. Our business number is my wifes name. Just realize Google doesn't like listing us locally and won't put you up unless you are looking from within the Places area itself. Good Luck.

Google website services shamokin pa and you won't find me. If you click on Places on the left bar after clicking on show more you will find my Social Mobile Fusion in A and Pops Copy Shop as H. Both are my listing using the same address and same phone number. It really isn't as hard as people think it is. Hope this helps
