Google Places

Sorry if this question has been asked, but have looked back over a few months and could not see it or one like it.

Here in the UK we have open air markets, these are arranged by the local council (or private contractor) Now we have indoor and outdoor markets so I will break the question in two.

@ Outdoor - These are normally held on a Market Square and you have anything from a dozen to a few hundred market traders.

- Most Traders do this full time, and will "Stand" on the same pitch week in and week out (and some do different markets around the area)

Now my question is can I do a Google Places for these traders? They have a business, they have products, they have a phone number, business name. What they do not have is a physical address for each stall.

@ Indoor - These are normally permanent places such as a market hall and they are open on a set number of days. They too have products, a phone number, business name. But again it would be xyz business, stand 7, local market hall, town, postcode.

Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks

  • Hi Andrew,

I think you must do a Google Places for these traders to improve your site information.
  • Get the vendor an executive suite address as close to the center of town as possible. Done deal.

    • Actually, just yesterday Google made an addition to its Quality guidelines : Google Places Policies - Google Places Help :

"Some businesses may be located within a mall or a container store, which is a store that contains another business. If your business is within a container store or mall, and you'd like to include this information in your listing, specify the container store in parentheses in the business name field. For example, Starbucks (inside Safeway)."

I suppose this answers your question

Regarding the address the Quality Guidelines say:

"Use a precise, accurate address to describe your business location."

This means that you will have to be very precise when specifying exactly where the stall is located.

And I think you will be banned pretty soon.

He cannot get an executive suite address, because the sale is done at the physical location. This is not a contractor. The physical location is very important in this case.

  • most markets have a site office therefore a postcode. I'm prety sure you could give the business name like "Hoovers R'US - London Market" I have a business selling rugs and we had 10 units on the go at one time all inside shopping centres and this works a treat.
