First Offline Client! :D

So I got my first offline client today!

And it was SO easy!

Possibly even easier than online!

I run an SEO business so naturally I look for my clients online, but today I called the owner of a commercial real estate company and he wants to go ahead with some SEO to rank his keywords in Google.

He is actually my girlfriends boss so that connection helps, especially because my girlfriend put in a good word for me too

But I just gave him a call and we worked out a plan, I answered all his questions and we are now going ahead at $300/month.

I am going to be doing a lot more of this in the future, offline business owners generally have a lot more money to spend on their business than most internet marketers, and they are easy to convince.

You don't need to compete with super low quality SEO solutions or WSOs, and business owners don't really have the time to learn about what a backlink is.

They just want to pay someone to do the work to get them to page one on Google, Yahoo, etc.

So as long as you make yourself clear about general lead times, Googles constant jumping around, and the nature of the whole thing, you are good to go.

Serious guys, if you are thinking about calling some businesses to offer your services, start now!

It is really easy and I am going to be doing a lot more of it from now on!

Congrats. The second you get them some traction, ask for referrals. Offer a discount if you have to, but referrals are a good way to build your business fast.

Congratulations on the new client! The first one is always the hardest.

    Might I suggest something?

Where I live, there is a local paper that gets distributed for the sole purpose of highlighting "the local merchants" in my area. They offer advertisement space in this paper and compound it with posting the ads on their website, too.

Maybe there is such a paper in your area? If so, consider placing an ad in it to see if you can drum up clients by being more "visible" in the neighborhood. It's worked wonders for my offline business. Give it a try and let me know how it works out for you.
