Adverting or SEO or both..

Hi Guys

Just going through some numbers to figure out how many sites I would need to sell advertising on

Basically my girlfriend wants to move 600 miles in a couple of years to be neaerer her mum so need to build up something more substainial than just affiliate marketing

Started the local website advertising approach but even if I charge $97 a site, it still works out as a large amount I would need to be sustainable

Do you think I should concentrate on that or look for seo clients?

Im thinking, £300-400 a month per client is easier than waiting to build 30-40...50 sites etc

Im in the UK by the way, so not treading on any US toes

Cheers everyone

Rob

Depends, are you doing the site build and SEO yourself? Alone it seems like alot of work to be done effectively and multiple times over a myriad of clients. Pick which ever one you are strongest at doing.

If you're outsourcing, I say do both in tandem; bundle the services and offer them as winning package. Know what I mean?

You should not limit yourself before the game is played. Every single client, even if it's for a simple web space is worth thousands. If your client starts to "get it" and you provide to him a cool and valuable education, he will keep coming back for new services.

      Thanks Guys

I would be building the local advetising based sites myself but outsourcing the links, but I do feel im limiting myself

The only reason I have never swayed into doing seo for companies is, its so competitive, most companies would of been hammered by phone, email and letters from seo companies by now...

Can see how a local site based for advertising can prove my service is trustworthy, so maybe an entry point

Ive been in IM since 2007 so need to get something decent under my belt and away from affiliate sites

      Thanks again

First off, selling websites to companies for $97 is too cheap. You make me think that you're somebody that uses yahoo site builder for websites and calls it a day. Very low quality. You should be charging $300-400 MINIMUM even when just starting out.

How much is a business going to make from you designing a website for them? More than $100. You need to focus on quality.

Don't tell me that the competition there is so high that you have to offer low prices because they don't want to pay high amounts. If you tell me that, then you are either misinformed, or lying! I have clients from the UK, that pay nicely.

I think you could start selling mobile websites to small local businesses. There are several services that will be small mobile websites very cheaply for you that you could resell to local service businesses. Try the local free magazines - by hooking up with them you might find a source of small businesses to sell to.
