When you guys suggest trying to get hosting from a client can you explain a little

Do you mean that you sign them up through your affiliate link ? or
you actually have a server that you host clients on and then charge them whatever price?

So if it's through your affiliate link you then double dip by getting a monthly payment from the client and the host ?

That being said, do you create a new account on the host for that client separately or just add their project under your hosting profile ?

I'd like to more about this too...

Personally, I think I'd prefer to refer the client to a host, using an affiliate link. But what's the best way to do it to ensure they really use the link (and really sign up)?

    Thanks.

We use reseller hosting because most hosting companies only pay a one time affiliate commission then they get the recurring income.

But that one-time payout is like $100 or more. Isn't that worth it?

Your forgetting the lifetime value of a customer. We charge $30 a month and we have many customers over 5 years so that makes your $100 not look so nice.

How you are able to charge this much is by adding value like an extra article a month or Google analytics, backup services and so much more.

Why not get a reseller account through Hostgator and host it yourself for $23-30/month?

I'm not sure I'd feel right charging them that much when I know they can go direct with Hostgator for less than $10 per month.
