Go Daddy using QR Code on their television commercial

Was just taking a break from work and watching some football and saw a Go Daddy commercial with a decent sized QR code in the bottom right corner during the entire thing with a "scan now" sign above it.

Has anyone else seen other corporations using this technique? Maybe these QR codes are finally about to take off.

Any thoughts?

Hardly seen anyone try it yet with TV ads...great for us - more recognition...

Now if we can just get those "Go Daddy Girls" in QR bikini's...

    @ fitz10 below...Interesting - I wouldn't have thought Sears would be that progressive...
I see Target, Macy's etc. use them in print - but no TV...

Yes, Sears and Baileys Liquors started running TV ads with QR codes last year during the holiday season.

I do hear that qr codes are very prevalent with most all white label SMS providers these days.
Should be pretty easy to find something good.

Good luck in finding your reliable source.
You do not need a SMS provider to make QR codes. Here's a free QR code generator: QR Code Generator: QR Stuff Free Online QR Code Creator And Encoder For T-Shirts, Business Cards & Stickers If you need to do huge batches or high res QR codes you can pay them $3.95.

I've seen it a few times. I'm also seen promoting a short code for a discount when they came into the store.

I too saw the qr code on the commercial, could not get my phone out fast enough to scan it... That is why we created Biztag. Tag your qr code with a Keyword, we call a MobileURL and create a qrtag. With a keyword attached to the qr code, people can either scan or perform a mobile search from their browser/camera. Biztag and Adeptpros attending the CTIA mobile conference in San Diego October 11-13 2011 to unveil Biztag. Look for the site to be up and available for use on October 15 2011, get your unique MobileURL before someone else registers it.

Thanks for reading - Godaddy... lol

Hey, Thanks for checking out the QR code on the commercial.
Since you were discussing how to create a QR code, just thought I'd let you know that you can also create one with an X.CO shortened link. When you use the X.CO url shortener, while signed in, it will also generate a QR code for your shortened link.

kayak also has a huge qr code in one of their new tv ads promoting a mobile app. It's so large you could scan it from the couch.
