$50K challenge: Calling on offline pros

Before I tell you the challenge/help, I will give you a blurb about my background, to help dispel any "assumptions" up front... This is NOT intended as any self-promotion at all, this is an honest request for your thoughts.

Okay - first I need to say up front that I DO offline consulting, I earn money every month from it, (a few exclusive customers)... these clients though mainly came from either a presentation I did (for their company) or from referrals or they're friends.

My experience is online marketing for 14 years - so I'm not a newbie here - and yes, I've earned a six figure income several years. (Last several its been mid-high five figures, mainly because I went through a burn out time about 5 yrs ago and haven't had the desire to burn out again lol).

I typically make 2/3 of my income selling advertising (NOT adsense) or the occasional membership site, the other consulting.

Okay - now that you know a teeny bit about my background, here's a thought/question for you guys:

The internet has changed, years ago I could literally push a button (email send) and make $40K in a weekend. (Did it many times lol). It just doesn't work like that much anymore unless you spend weeks of hyping people (which I don't want to do, nor do I have time for).

Now with that said...... I've kind of got a challenge for myself, and I need some solid opinions.

A little on the personal side.... You see, we've moved a few times (21 yrs of marriage... about 14 moves lol) - and my hubby is in a job that isn't far - and so we're ready to buy a house. (We didn't in the past because we kept moving for his work, or family/illness). We promised our daughter that she could start AND Finish high school here, and we really like where we are (city). We've been here for 4 years as of next weekend, and we do really like it here.

NOW... we have an opportunity for a house that is like the "perfect" one that has space for me to have my office mostly at home as I prefer.

BUT - Canada housing is NOT cheap, and being self employed (My hubby does contracts too) - the bank wants 10% rather than 5% down (which we're okay with, we prefer that anyway. We've been renting all this time and frankly I'm tired of it, I just want to be settled. (But thank goodness for the internet giving me the freedom to move when we needed to!)

My hubby and I made an agreement:

1 - we'll buy a house right here, where we like it - so that we can stay put, and he'll drive to work (40 min to another city)
2 - I'll help get the down payment

SO I made a challenge for myself: Come up with the 10% down payment in roughly 30 days. (Something I haven't done in several years that quickly lol).

I do have a promo going out in mid Sept, and we're launching a major site around then too... but I was thinking that I could just beef up my offline clients again to earn it.

SO FOR YOUR HELP: to help me with my challenge (Oh, the # is $35,000 minimum) - could you guys tell me the best things to offer, that require the least amount of time, to make the most amount of profits?

i.e., here's what I have done:

- mobile websites
- QR codes
- text messaging
- SEO
- PPC campaigns/monitoring/optimizing
- some social media (mostly for my own business)
- lead generation sites
- amazon books

yes, I can create websites, but I REALLY want to minimize that part on anything that will require much programming - while I can do html, I'm not a true programmer (I don't do javascript, php etc).

I do have the info / resources already here for facebook fan pages, etc. too, and can add that to the mix.

While I'd obviously like to get "fast up front", I wouldn't mind getting some that are obviously recurring too.

Note that I have done a few lead generation sites (real estate) and haven't had any profitable, so I haven't pushed them, probably just going to sell them off.

My deadline (personally) is by Sept 26th.

Yes, I do have a lot of resources on "how" to do all these things... just need to know what YOU make the most money with, quickest - i.e., easiest sell - with minimal time involved?

So - What do you guys think would be the best things to offer on a "quick" method, to earn the $35-50K as quickly as possible with offline clients?

(up front - please do NOT say clickbank stuff lol - I'm not looking for "online" niche marketing at the moment, just doing stuff for offline people, something I can get paid either on delivery or up front).

  • I think the one talent you've left out is the ability to drive traffic and convert it.

Many, not many TONS of local businesses are not converting their existing traffic
    at all!

Convert what they already have coming into paying customers and you'll be set
to offer whatever services you want in the future, it will be a done deal!

When they see new customers and tell you they want moar TRAFFIC! You say, hold
your horses! Before we crank up your traffic we need to address some serious issues
with your site, etc etc. = )

Question about your personal side. If you buy the house it means breaking a promise to your daughter? If so, I'd keep my word and forgo the house for 4 years and then kick her butt out and buy a KILLER house when she graduates! LOL j/k!

    • Thanks Russ - I didn't think about that traffic, to me that's just a given, but you're completely right!

Oh - and as for the house....

No, buying doesn't mean breaking the promise - buying (or renting) OUT of the area (in between where we live now and the city my hubby works in) would be breaking the promise to her.

Buying the house here, keeps the promise to her - and she LOVES the house we picked because it gives her a nice big room she can decorate to her liking LOL.

  • dimeco, I think that if you need the money that fast so what you need to do is to leverage your assets, what I can see is that you have 2 big assets that can be leverage right now:

    a) your list.

    b) your lead generation websites.

Even if you don't want to overwhelm your subscribers, that is an asset that can be used, create a couple of specific offers like: social media week and start promoting from monday, close on friday and the next week ppc week, and you offer special prices to set up those strategies to your clients on your list.

And the other asset, your lead generation websites, you can use them as a "support sites" to rank one local business for a highly competitive term, as I could read this are real estate sites, so why don't you use it as support sites for something like "Real Estate + City" or you send back links from your websites to the biggest real estate company on your city and you tell them that you are the one that is taking them to the 1 page.

    Hope it helps.

    • I did mention the lead generation sites aren't making $ - THEY ARE ranking, they ARE in the top (first page for local keywords). They have had a few leads, but frankly 90% of the leads are people filling out the form to attempt to sell ME SEO! Annoying. And I do not have time for that right now, and honestly they wouldn't pay me enough lol

(But thanks for the suggestion, I did ask for them!)

Actually I came up with a plan, it hit me REALLY late last night (1:30 a.m.ish... I was up till 2:30 hashing it out).

Kinda cool strategy, no one is doing it that I can see, so I'm going to implement it next week and see how it goes.

It will utilize about 3 variations of offline to online marketing, but its probably going to take me a week or so to pull it fully together.

Gotta talk to my programmer tomorrow and see if he can make it faster for me to automate some.

  • So what was your idea?

    • Step 1: Corporate website design / redesign. Its amazing how many large corporates have terrible sites, and convincing them to get a new site done is extremely easy if you know how to sell them on the advantages of having an online reach. Show them hard numbers and explain how they could outdo their competition, and the rest sells itself. With a few days work, landing a couple of design contracts is simple.

Step 2: Outsource said web design to an established overseas firm. PM me if you need help finding one

Thats it. Typical profits for a corporate design are in the $10,000 - $25,000 range, after outsourcing costs. 2 - 3 clients like this (and it should really only take a week or two to nail 3 clients) and you're done.

    • I'm finalizing some research and putting it together.

I'll report back in a few weeks to see how it went.

  • Am I understanding the challenge correctly 35K - 50K in the next 26 days?
    • [1] reply
    • That's correct!

If you exclude the holiday weekend (almost upon us) and only count from Tuesday on, it's either 14 business days, or 20 "full" days (if you include weekends).

      Amber
  • I would LOVE to see this happen.

Now I believe we are at 25 days. So that would be going from zero to 2K per day for 25 days straight.

If she does it she will easily be a millionaire selling the story of how she did it.
    • [1] reply

    • Hehehe - yeah, no pressure

It's okay - I've got it all broken down into how I'm going to do it, but its less than 25 days (I'm not counting "officially starting" to attempt to get sales until Tuesday, the day after Labor Day holiday here). So it'll be 14 business days or 20 full.

I technically have more time (Oct) but I don't want to count on that, I set the firm date in my head of Sept 26th and I'm sticking to it.

So its laid out, I'm working on the sales pages now, and have already got my research ready to go, my emails, etc.

Oh - btw - I don't have a car at my disposal at the moment so I have to do all of this from home. Adds to the challenge (or hassle, whichever way you want to look at it!) My hubby works out of town and has now taken my car.... which I will rectify soon! I told him, I picked the last car, he picks the next one because I want mine back.

I'll try to come back and post after "week 1" how it goes. Hopefully I'll have sales by that time, and not just still talking with leads!

  • SWEET! No apology necessary. Best of luck to you and your friends I am sure you will do great!
  • That feeling when you are just about to really get going and a little nervous little anxious, a little satisfied all at once. Feeling you have a home run or at least a triple but still not sure if or if not it will work.

If we could bottle that feeling we would all be billionaires
  • Amber, can't wait to hear your updates!

I am rooting for you girl!

    Cheers,

  • Checking in to see if you took the conversions route, or implemented it into something?
    • [1] reply
    • Sort of... implementing it into a variation that achieves that result.

I know, cryptic But that is the point of what I'm working on.
