Best niches to promote SMS marketing solutions?

Hi

I am trying to determine the best niches to promote SMS services to. I know that Restaurants are the most obvious one. But what other great niches are there to go after?

Thanks.

anyone where an appointment reminder would be valuable. Think about it, lots of businesses lose revenue when they have clients fail to show up. No-shows cost "time trading businesses" money. Think Dentists, Attorneys, Chiropractors, and many more (I have to keep some of the niches to myself - lol), but you get the idea :-)

I've found that restaurants, nightclubs, and yogurt shops are the best bets...

I agree with RockstarBen above that any place that sets an appointment is a good target... however, from personal experience I have found specifically that dentist offices are not good. I spent a week calling pretty much every dentist office in my area and didn't get 1 sale. This was for two reasons-- 1) dentists are hard to get a hold of and 2) all the major scheduling software that dentists use have text messaging built into it. Quite a few dentists aren't even using it, but if they decide to they aren't going to go with somebody new, they will most likely use the service that is already built in and integrated with their current software.

In addition to the above, think businesses that provide "consumables" that customers buy repeatedly. Oil changes, vitamins, disposable contacts, etc.

I think Lime Cellular is the best white label SMS marketing platform.

Imagine setting up an SMS autoresponder for Real Estate agents to give stats on their various properties. Text 1) for 413 Mockingbird Lane, 2) for 18 Cherry Grove, etc.

Also verifying appointments for real estate walk-throughs, as hinted at above, would be killer.

Any business with returning customers will benefit greatly! That being said, just over a third of my clients are churches and schools...their not marketing at all, just sending information and reminders about events. The real estate is a really good one as well, I've been really digging into that one as of late.

I created a "real estate" flow in OpenVBX that does this.

Caller calls in from sign to a local number. Gets a director of listings (i.e. press 1 for X property, 2 for X etc.)

The realtor is then sent a text immediately notifying them that they have a new lead and the lead is added to a mobile list.

The caller can then choose if they want to have a web URL sent directly to their smart phone so they can check out the house online, or they can connect directly to the agent's cell phone. Or they can leave a voicemail.

Benefits of this sort of lead system are:

      1) instant lead notification to realtor via text that someone is interested in X property
      2) build a mobile list of buyers for followup later on
      3) integrates offline to online (by having the system send the property URL to their phone)
      4) Use one phone number for everything - and track them

I ran this by a couple realtors I know and they didn't seem that interested, although maybe I didn't explain it simply enough.

It's also helpful to remember that SMS is not just a marketing platform; its also a powerful communications vehicle. Any business that has a lot of employees they need to stay in touch with while on the road is a possible candidate.

Dead on, Mike. I am actually working on closing a biz in Oil and Gas industry. They don't give a crap about marketing. What they do care about is "Instant Notifications" - when there is an immediate need for emergency response - they can use this system. This will be one of my biggest contracts if it closes and has zero to do with marketing and will require very little management.

      Keep Rockin!

How about colleges and universities? They can use it to provide information about events, classes, schedules, promote their on-campus businesses such as food service, bookstores and others. Just a few things I can think of off the top of my head.

The last few posts stated what I was going to say about using it as a communication tool. Schools and churches are great clients for this.

I am venturing into some other outside the box niches as well: Exotic Dancers and Club Promoters

The list is endless. Like someone mentioned above, it is not only a great marketing tool but a top of the line communication tool as well. Think "email marketing" times 10. Anyone who can send out mass emails to benefit their business can also use sms marketing as it is very similar but far more effective.
