Local Roofing Domains

Hi I have had several local Roofing domains for a year or two now, I have position some in the First page and the first spot of Google for the local Key phrase "Roofing" + in + "local place". I was thinking on using that domain to promote local roofing companies. I also have a complimentary domain which uses Best Roofing + local place which is also in the first page of Google, first spot.

What do you guys recommend me to do to monetize them? What approach do you recommend with the local business owners?

I appreciate all your help and experience...

Easiest way to monetize, is to see what kind of traffic volumes the sites are getting and what kind of "leads" are being produced. If the leads are there then you could simple phone up some roofing businesses that are ranking lower than yours, generally page 2+, and try to rent the site, or sell the leads separate.

Set up a site similar to Jack Mize's Sample site; Houston Discount Roofing Contractors - Emergency Roof Repairs 713-242-1651

It's just ONE PAGE....HOWEVER...it GETS BUSINESS! It's just a Sample Site and Jack uses it to "show his students" what can be done. The MAIN thing is .....the PHONE # is Prominent and there's a Form to CAPTURE leads.

You could apply this format to your "Roofer" sites.

      Worth considering.

Interesting, how many people are searching for "houston discount roofing"? I just search for "houston roofing" and your site is not high in the SERP

Does the Wordpress theme on that site come with one of his courses?

The main two ways to monetize your site is to either A) Rent it out or B) Capture the leads and sell them yourself.

Renting out the site will be a lot less work on your end... you just get it set up for the roofing company who rents it for you and put lots of banners and links to their page. You could even set the whole page up to be like it is theirs.

If you are going to sell the leads yourself, this could potentially bring in more money if you are getting a lot of traffic to the site (and can convert well!), but it will take a lot more of your time day to day.

My personal preference is to set up something that runs on autopilot, so I'd go for renting it out myself.

Hey Don....if you read maricelu's post, she says she searched for Houston roofing.

You say you searched for Houston Roofing Contractors.

Two different key words, two different results.

So....go back to maricelu's post and check again.

Out of curiosity, I just did that.
        Actually, I searched all these.
For "houston discount roofing" he was all over pg 1, but as Maricelu said, how many put "discount" in their search?
For "Houston Roofing Contractors", he was down on pg 5.
For "Houston Roofing" he was on pg 3.

I did the same search on Google for: houston roofing contractors and the site is on page 5. I have a little desktop tool and that put it at spot #40. Houston discount roofing was all over page 1 though. Looks like they have a Google places listing so are you sure that is just a sample site?

I usually just put up a decent website, push it to page one for some long tail keywords and then do a voice broadcast to all the roofers in the city. I like to leave a short message on their voice mail that sounds casual like I just left it for them myself. Something like this.

Hi, sorry I missed you. This is Mark Helton. I was just giving you a call because I see that you are a roofer. Anyways, I made this website for a competitor of yours in (city name) and pushed it to the top of Google. He suddenly cant pay me for my work. You can check out the site out it's (site address) just Google "Long Tail roofing Keyword". I was wondering if you would be interested in taking it over. My # is 555-6789. Thanks and I hope to talk to you soon!

I always sell them with this method.

    Hope this helps!

      Hi Mark,

Thanks for the recommendation. One more questions, do you call at non-business hours to leave a message? or you talk to the owner directly? If so how do you approach them to close the sale?

      Thanks

I will call them 2 times. Once during the morning after 11am their time (they are usually too busy to answer the phone (important) and then one more time around 730pm. Contractors work late.

        Hope this helps

I never quite got why people bother with the "roofing" (or the plumbing) market. How often do people need a roofer or a plumber? (Ive never called a plumber in the last 10 years) And once they buy is there an upsell? What's the lifetime customer value?

Who wants to join a roofer or plumber's fanpage? Waste of time if you ask me.

I guess you can sell leads to make a few bucks, huh?

Houston Discount Roofing gets 170 local monthly searches. Just one sale for an average sized roof more then pays for the monthly lease of that site and places listing.

I'd suggest renting it, if you can. I'm currently building tons of websites that I plan on renting in a market that can easily afford $500-$1000/mo. for renting a top spot in Google.

I'd definitely use Mark Helton's method and do voice broadcasting. I love voice broadcasting and have been doing that to drive new leads for my sales guys for years. Easy way to scale up your business is VB.

Plumbing is probabaly your best bet, much better than roofing.

      Plumbing
      Lock smiths
      Boiler repairs
      Drains roding
      Roofing

      in that order

I'd consider renting them to companies and promoting them on a "leads" basis according to the level of traffic for each.

Have you put a phone # up on the site to see if any calls come in? you can do this and then rout them to a roofer...then call him and tell him that you sent them and if he wants more it will cost x amount.

Interesting - your one page ugly sites rank highly in organic while the decent brinkroofingcompany.com site doesn't (besides the Places listing)

Do you get a lot of leads from the one page sites? Did you do a lot of off-page optimization to get them there?

Zimbizee, lol. I know, I have multiple sites. I have good ones also.

      My main website is brinkroofingcompany.com
Everyone told me to just focus on one website. That site was always on first page
      google.

But, Someone optimized it and I decided I wanted to bump out the other websites,
so that I would have multiple spots on the first page. Trying to bump out some people.

      Perfect example...... google................ Erie Roofers......
Question...is brinkroofingcompany.com anywhere on the page?
Question 2 .... .is erieroofers.com on the same page also?

      brinkroofingcompany.com - now that's a tidy site, i like it.

In the UK when i google Erie Roofers - erieroofers.com is no 1 and brinkroofingcompany.com is the no 2 spot in the places listings.

      Good job
