Local Biz Video Ranking Help Needed

I am not having the success with this youtube video ranking like I have with others in the past so I am curious if anyone "with experience" can shed some light on this.

In the title I do not include the company name but I do include keywords I think people will search for including keyword, city name and phone number.

In the keywords just as an example ... let's say I were doing something with an asphalt company. Would I use keywords like:
"asphalt paving company"
"asphalt paving contractors"
"asphalt paving prices"
"asphalt paving companies"

Would I be using asphalt paving too many times as long tail keywords or would it be better to just do something like
"asphalt", "paving", "Company", etc. etc. ?

When I do a Google search for keyword, city all competitors come up but this company nowhere to be found. When I do a Google video search he ranks in #2 or #3 spot.

I set this up on 8/22/2011.

What else might be the situation?

Any ideas?

Go back and review the tags and how they read on YouTube. By default, YouTube adds a comma between every word unless you put that keyword phrase in quotes. This CAN have an effect on ranking the video. Just ensure that you use quotes around each individual keyword phrase.

You might also want to give the overall YouTube listing a once over & start changing select items to see if you get better results.

Once you have ensured that you have made all the adjustments, it wouldn't hurt to 'ping' your YouTube video URL address. You can do that for free at Free Mass Ping Unlimited Websites or Blogs or RSS on BulkPing.com.

Pinging isn't an all inclusive solution, but it does help.

One more thing: Did you set up any geographical preferences when you uploaded your video? You may want to look into that in the actual video listing.

    Hope this helps.

      Thanks for your feedback Rich!

I did set up geographical preferences. I also put all "keywords" in quotations. One issue I am having is when I save my edit in YouTube as soon as I click save, it comes back with a lot of keywords either totally removed or some of the quotation marks have been removed. Not sure what is up with that.

Once I get passed being able to save what I want and it be there ... I will ping as well as set up RSS feed on video.

      Thanks again for your suggestions.

Simple things: Does it have any comments or "likes"? It only takes a few...
Also, repeat a keyword in the title, like "Beauty Shops in Dallas -- Ann's Beauty Shop"... or along those lines. Be sure to include the keywords in the video description a few times as well.

I set up clients YouTube channel with their info and did everything you mentioned. I also thought it was a simple thing. This is the first video I ever had an issue with which is what puzzles me.

Oops... I didn't mean that it's a "simple thing"... I just meant that there are a few simple things you could try.

Also, if possible, do a second video for them and in the description, mention that they should also watch their other video at www... and provide the link. (Do that in each video description).

I had a stubborn video stuck on page 3 for the longest... like 3 weeks. Another week or so went by and I checked again and it was #1 in the search results, above the Place "box".

Can't explain the rhyme or reason for that.

Thank you for your suggestion. I have mentioned he needs to allow me to do more but his money is tight. I may just bonus some additional work to him. It will all come back in the end, whether from him or somewhere else. Kind of like planting seeds for a harvest is the way I look at it.

      Thanks again for your suggestion.
