Your biggest questions about mobile marketing

Ok so here we go.

As I've mentioned in a few of my previous posts, I'm now really focusing in on everything mobile and considering putting together a little project on mobile marketing.

But before I do, I was wondering if you could help me out for a moment.

Here on the warrior forum I've seen countless posts dealing with some form or aspect of mobile marketing.

Some topics come up more than others of course...and there sometimes is a struggle to get a breakthrough in your business attempts. However there are answers to these questions and I want to help you get and use these answers.

Now here's a question that I would like to ask you.

What are your top 3 mobile marketing challenges you face right now?

Don't be shy, even if you're just starting out...no question is to simple.

Also, for those of you who might be thinking oh...here comes a product launch.

Well sorry to disappoint you..but that's not why I'm asking this question. The answers to these questions will become categories in a forum that I would create and research for more answers on so I can share my results with the readers.

As I've said before I love the warrior forum but without there being a section just for mobile marketing I spend a lot of time searching through the posts for information.

So this little simple idea is something I'm interested in doing.

I'm not looking for it to be perfect at the start, but what I am looking for is to just get started.

So as it looks so far...and it's early on..

Pricing seems to be a major area to really explore.

And would make a good topic category in a forum.

Keep the questions coming guys, and gals.

I'll be sharing some things here with you as well for your posts.

        1. I was using Warrior Ben's templates for mobile sites but I think I need something a little more advanced with options for facebook, twitter, 4square, etc. What do you recommend

        2. So you lets say you get your first client and its Stve's Bar and Grill so you design a site for him and he already has a website how do you make sure when people visit his regular site that it gets forwarded to your mobile site. I understand the use of scripts but do you have to log into his hosting service and change the things around?

        3. What do warriors find is the best place to host sites and how do you charge for hosting?

I am a complete newb but have started to put the pieces together.... I can handle the selling side no problem but its the design and the technical details that I feel are holding me back.

        I really appreciate this thread.

Well, I've just put up a simple script (it's only a couple of words) that you can use whenever someone responds to your offer with thanks, but we have someone already to handle that. And it not only works for that one objection, you can use it on any objection you might get.

Also, I've secured to new items for the site.

One will be seo services and the other will be for website design services that will also include graphics, mobile websites along with custom qr code designs to go with the mini site.

Now please understand that these services aren't some affiliate program that I joined and have put my link up.

          Not at all.

They are actual designers that I've talked to and have worked it out where they will be designers on the site. They are fellow warriors.

Whatever is needed to give members the tools and training to successfully sell their services is what I'm looking for and adding.

I'll also be looking to add our own coder so that we can have custom software, plugins and scripts designed that will only be available to members.

          That's it for now.

Here is a really unique way of using a QR code.

It's in a foreign language, but the idea is that when a cigarette smoker scans the code it will show the nearest location where they can light up and not have to worry about any cigarette bans.

How can you adopt an idea like this?

It's not currently being done in the united states.

Ok guys and gals here's a quick update for you.

I've been hard at work on putting this project together and I hope to have a screen shot for you shortly.

Just added a site where you can get your hand on some pretty awesome mobile site templates.

I've gotta also stress that it won't be perfect but it's a start.

Also, did you hear that amazon is rolling out a new site design?

Reportedly they are making it much simpler on the first page.

      Why?

To make it easier to view and navigate on tablets. Now I don't know about you but that's some pretty powerful info as to just how important the mobile market has become.

I'll be including some easy to use email templates in there for you.

Plus, you'll get the principles behind creating email templates that work.

Don't get me wrong, I love a new tactic or strategy just as much as the next person, but those things can come and go.

But principles, they tend to stay the same. So that's what I'll be sharing.

Also I'm looking at having some of my fellow warriors becoming part of the site as well and contribute their own knowledge.

The idea is that I want the site to be able to become an income source for the readers as well. So I'm looking at ways to make that happen for them as too.

Feel free to make any suggestions that you may have.

Our clients top three questions are usually regarding:
    1) How to gain a legitimate opt-in list
    2) Where to advertise their short codes/qr codes
    3) How to create a successful mobile marketing campaign

There are numerous sources on the web, and we do our best to answer through the Trumpia blog. However it is clear that many people still don't know how to harness the power of multichannel and mobile. That's why we have 7 day support and in-house marketing consultants.

Great thread this is!! A few questions I'd have are:

    1. Are prospective buyers happy to purchase just a site and QR code based on the offline marketing possibilities (QR codes)?
    2. Do prospective buyers expect a "bells and whistles" mobile site, or is an info site suffice to hook them, off the back of the QR tactics?
    3. What are potential "add ons" to offer within the mobile site? Opt in forms, questionaires/polls, video?
    4. How much would you charge for a. site creation b. qr code c. hosting d. updates (weekly, monthly, on demand?) e. Add ons to the basic info site
    5. Would it be wise to offer services such as video creation for an upsell?
    6. How to ensure a recurring income?
    7. Do you have issues from clients' current web developers in terms of FTP access etc?

I'm just a little *slow* on the web domain name gymnastics...

      I see a few scenarios:
      1) Existing W Blog ---> Mobile Site
      2) Existing Website ---> Mobile Site
      3) Existing Website /w Blog ---> Mobile Site

It would be good to understand how this is setup using an existing domain, or to add the hosting to another provider depending on the cooperation level of an existing web developer...

I have been looking to 'mobilize' my current blog, and have ended up somewhat confused on the domain setup on my existing Hostgator site.

Yes, I could go with a WP Plugin, but feature/benefits of the various templates may make having a 'template library' available for particular clients.

I am sure that this is very simple to achieve... it just hasn't *clicked* yet for me.

      TIA

Here's a quick update for you guys and gals.

I've been working on learning the software and how it works. It's got a lot of features and the old platform just wasn't cutting it and hence the delay.

Now as far as the mobile marketing forum here.

It's fine, but not what I'm looking for from a site about mobile marketing.

This site is called the warrior forum with a section about mobile marketing.

Not a site dedicated to all things mobile. The size that mobile marketing will grow into and what it will include can't be fitted into a section on a site. It needs it's own home with the ability to scale out as the industry grows and yet still be centered on it's main topic. With everything that will be coming out in regards to the mobile marketing industry it requires much more than you could even imagine.

It's predicted size and growth rate is staggering.

It's why ford just recently teamed up with bug labs (they make open source hardware and software for mobile devices) to create an open sourced in car info-tainment system. This is a car company looking at having a product that developers can create items for that will play on the in dash screen so that they too can capture it's share of the mobile market.

Every industry will have to look at how to incorporate mobile into their survival. This is why I like to say to businesses, innovate or die. It's that serious. The consumer is no longer a target that sits still. They are now of moving target, and you have to catch them wherever they are on whichever device they have available at that time. Whether it's a cell phone, an in car display, or on wall in a sub-way station. This will be the future.

It's why google is betting the farm on mobile.

      Why?

Because the consumer is now empowered.

The ability of the consumer to be able to search for info on products and services when they want, how they want, and whenever they want is what's driving this mobile movement. It's a 24 hour on cycle in which the user can pick and choose from a variety of devices that to access the info they need in order to make a well informed decision.

So to cover all of the areas in which mobile marketing will have an affect, it's huge, it's daunting and it needs to be more organized. That's what I'm looking for and what I'm creating.

      With that being said.

I'm still a warrior and always will be.

          Like I said before...that's fine.

However, the mobile marketing movement isn't coming, it's already here. And now the information has to be made both useful, and usable so that it can be consumed by the people who need it when they want it most. It has to be delivered right when the people who are looking for it and have their eyes glued to the screens and are ready to consume it

That's where the moment of truth will come into play for this section.

People today want to be part of a movement, part of a community.

And because of this, you have to create a site that's hyper-targeted. When someone arrives at this site looking for ways to sell its mobile services to chiropractors then that information has to be brought to him as fast as possible in different forms that go along with the different devices he will be using to search for it. Not through search after search after search for threads. You have to mine the data, and through that mining start delivering to him that targeted info that they are looking for in the different forms that they looking for it to come in to fit on the different devices they will be using to look for it.

The more steps that come between the searcher and finding that info will only lead him to leaving and going to the next site or area still looking for that info and feeling unsatisfied.

Imagine the guy who's driving over to meet a client to pitch him his mobile services. While in the car he realizes that a key piece of info he had read in a thread has jumped from his memory. He's forgotten it. The tool he has in front of him now is his in-dash monitor set up and a smartphone. Do you think he has time to scroll through posts and read the answers? Nope. But he can listen to an audio. Or play the video version of it. The info here needs to be coming in different forms in order to meet the way different devices that will be used to search for this info will need it to be in.

Take some time and look over the questions here about mobile marketing.

          Notice how specific they are.

          They aren't general questions.

Those are like mini conversations that people are trying to start.

You have to be able to monitor those mini conversations going on and then serve up those answers right when they are looking for them. You have to use the tools that are now available to you to do that.

Wouldn't it be better if you knew that the majority of this sites experts came online at lets say 6:00pm eastern time up until 9:30pm. Then as a user, that information was relayed to me so that I know that as well. Now I can come on and ask my question and that expert could answer it in real time as fast as possible.

I can complete the feedback loop much faster, giving that person a much better experience.

In this kind of economy as well as going forward into the future, the better you can become at creating and selling experiences the longer you'll be around. Why? Because your consumer now has the tools to go and check out how other consumers experiences were with your product or service and even your website and then make a decision about you.

Doesn't it make sense that if consumers are already doing this then make the adjustments so that you can meet the way they are looking for your site?

          One last example.

Take blockbuster. They're no longer the king of video sales.

What net flix did, blockbuster should have done first. But they didn't listen to what the market was saying. Sure there were those people who were saying that they loved the way blockbuster video's business model allowed them to shop for their favorite video's. However the people who were part of the I want it even easier movement were saying they wanted an even easier and simpler way to get their video's

Blockbuster fought against what it's consumers were saying they wanted.

Now, look who's on top of the video world.

Finally, to wrap this up. What I'm saying and what I've saw is that people are asking for a different experience when they are looking for mobile related info. The warrior forum doesn't have to go anywhere, just consider what the market is saying and make the adjustments.

That's a great quote to use whilst pitching to potential clients I think!

      Hi James,

      Thanks for your comment.

I can see apps taking over. As smartphones continue to grow, apps work better on those phones and in general.

Tablets and some other devices that I've seen sitting in the pipeline to come out in the future will be better suited for apps.

But for now, I still get quite a few people who want info on it.

Also, don't forget to introduce yourself in the new site.

You can make suggestions, ask and answer questions as well
